This question may not be applicable to folks in many countries, but here in Japan, as well as Norway and Iceland, the question may be very pertinent for Christians indeed. Is it a sin to eat the meat of endangered species? In addition to this, as various species of seafood begin to decline (Codfish, Bluefin Tuna, Swordfish, etc.) can anyone foresee Christian dietary laws proscribing these species based upon the need to insure biodiversity?

It's not a sin.
However, it's kinda selfish.
There's no Christian "law" that says you can't eat these things. Christians are not under the law. However, a couple of principles come to mind. Stewardship, for one. It is extremely lousy stewardship to destroy one's environment and crap in your own nest, so to speak. The other is loving one's neighbor as one loves one's self. Other people as well as future generations should not be deprived of the enjoyment of an enviroment rich in diverse life, both flora and fauna. We should refrain from acts which would extinct a species and not rob others of the pleasure of seeing them and perhaps using them in the future if they become plentiful again. Unless it's the cockroach. Cockroaches are of teh devil.
Because something isn't a sin doesn't mean that it's wise to do it. It is not a sin to run one's automobile without engine oil. But it's extremely stupid.

I'd say it's bad stewardship... but anyway, apparently it tastes revolting. They tried to feed it to the British public during World War II, and the British public let out a collective retch and went back to rabbit.
