There are so many wierd and wacky new ideas up for grabs on the Internet, and sometimes I meet people who have been duped by some new fandangled idea, that promises the world and delivers the void. The Jesus Seminar is one of those creatures that resembles a mental maze. Statement like 'that is that' , 'there is not past, no furture, only now' (the Gurus of Pure NonDuality) which sounds more like someone on and Acid trip than someone who enjoys thinking.
In an attempt to guide one of our TWebbers away from the dangerous snakes that can mess up ones mind, I made this final appeal to logic...
*) An earlier chat, for context... (*
Jesus Seminar TWebber:
if Christ is supposed to be the Jewish concept of "Messiah"
Ex-Theologian TWebber:
Not "supposed to be," but is. More accurately, "Jesus called the Christ"
Jesus Seminar TWebber:
exchange the word "reality" every time the word "Christ" appears in the NT. It tends to make a whole lot more sense.
Ex-Theologian TWebber:
Try as one might, interpolation and other word substitutions don't alter the "reality" of the etymology of the English word Christ except in one's own mind.
Jesus Seminar TWebber:
Christ is better understood as a psychological term that can apply to anybody. P(s)aul alludes to this when he says, "Have that mind in you that was in Christ Jesus".

Dear Jesus Seminar TWebber,
Please pay close attention, I am not going to do this again. It is not magic, merely logic. Here we go...
'Just unbelievable'
Mr Herbert, 55, of Burntwood in Staffordshire, who has been metal detecting for 18 years, came across the hoard as he searched land belonging to a farmer friend in July. The exact location has not been disclosed.
"I have this phrase that I say sometimes; 'spirits of yesteryear take me where the coins appear', but on that day I changed coins to gold," he said.
"I don't know why I said it that day but I think somebody was listening and directed me to it.

Now we shall use the same technique you used above, and often do to promote your idea, in much the same way that Adolph Hitler did, in the Mein Kampf. It is called, making cavalier use of Scripture.
This is more or less what you have done...
'Spirits is better understood as a psychological term that can apply to anybody. Mr H(Sh)erbert alludes to this when he says 'spirits of yesteryear take me where the coins appear' '
Because you ignore the context, as well as the Biblical definition of Christ, and create your own meaning...namely 'reality'.....you lose what was in fact written (here is an easy paraphrase of the context you have avoided)
5-8Think of yourselves the way Christ Jesus thought of himself. He had equal status with God but didn't think so much of himself that he had to cling to the advantages of that status no matter what. Not at all. When the time came, he set aside the privileges of deity and took on the status of a slave, became human!Having become human, he stayed human. It was an incredibly humbling process. He didn't claim special privileges. Instead, he lived a selfless, obedient life and then died a selfless, obedient death—and the worst kind of death at that—a crucifixion. ( Philippians )
