In Main Category A convert to Orthodoxy reconsiders evangelica

This is beautiful.

It took me a while, but I think I've finally learned what really matters. Liturgical is not enough, sacramental is not enough, Catholic is not enough, and Orthodox is not enough. Only Jesus is enough.

In Main Category Humor: Christianity and killers
  #217 New January 4th 2009 04:52 AM
From an episode of Boston Legal.

Catherine Piper: All I'm saying is, if you killed two people... there couldn't be a better time to turn to Jesus Christ, your savior.
Bernard Ferrion: Under normal circumstances I'd agree.
Catherine Piper: But?
Bernard Ferrion: I'm Jewish.
Catherine Piper: Bernie, there has never been a Jewish serial killer.
Bernard Ferrion: Son of Sam. David Berkowitz.
Catherine Piper: He was adopted. Genetically, he's one of ours.
Bernard Ferrion: Well, what a ...More Read More

In Main Category Absinth Pledge
  #216 New December 24th 2007 01:45 AM
I, Miss Joan, do hereby pledge to practice absinth-tinence by remaining absinth-tinent from Absinthe . . . Since Absinthe incidents in many instances induce incipient synesthetic inspiration and sinister synthetic insistence on sin, I sincerely insist I will be absent from instances of Absinthe ingestion, this instant.

Now I get to only go to church by myself because my dad doesn't go and my mom isn't up for going when I would go. Yay, that is really encouraging. I was going to go today, but I took too long eating breakfast. (I miss this meal I rarely sit down to eat it now that school has started.) Then I finished ironing the shirt I was going to wear, put the iron away, got changed and found, at the time that service was starting, that I had two really bad creases right along my thigh. By the time I wou ...More Read More

If I don't get some work soon, I will start worrying whether or not I will be able to go to school soon and still have money to afford buying separate medical coverage for prescription medications come next summer. If I don't get temp work soon, I get to spend another year asking what people want to eat and serving food while I have an AS in office management and several general education degrees and kiss my plans of getting a clerical job on campus good bye, along with the benefit already bein ...More Read More

I'm looking at you through the glass
Don't know how much time has passed
Oh God it feels like forever
But no one ever tells you that forever feels like home
Sitting all alone inside your head
(From Through Glass by Stone Sour)

I think that this song has some truth in how we perceive life. It feels like we will live forever is home because we were made to live forever. At the same time, we grow up realizing that what should be and what is are not always the same.

I have never bee

In Main Category Part of an answer on comedians...
  #211 New May 24th 2007 07:16 PM
Most comedians just aren't that funny. I used to watch some David Letterman and occasionally Jay Leno. Also saw SNL a few times, but that can be either a bit crude or just not my taste. I did still like Tina Fay and the news part of the show. Sarah Silverman is my least favorite (I'm generally disgusted with the girl). Jon Stewart can be funny, but it has its cruder moments which is an area of comedy I think should be overly indulged. Still, he does make some good points about current eve ...More Read More

In Main Category Need to pick a paper topic
  #206 New April 7th 2007 05:10 PM
I'm doing a paper for my monothiestic religions class. My topic has to somehow do something with at least one of the three religions (Judaism, Christianity, and Islam).

I thought about doing something with works not as a requirement but as evidence and fruit of salvation. It does seem pretty simple when I see things like Galations 5:21 and envy; drunkenness, orgies, and the like. I warn you, as I did before, that those who live like this will not inherit the kingdom of God. I don't know if ...More Read More
