    The Voice from the Fridge…

Has your stomach ever let out with a loud growl and suddenly you realize how hungry you are so you walk to the fridge open the door then say to yourself, “Let me see what am I hungry for?” then stand for minutes staring at a cornucopia of food not sure just what eat? That’s almost a daily activity for me and as I was thinking about it this morning it reminded me of my hunger for Jesus yet as I reflect on my life with all its complexity I find myself like the man David wrote about in Psalms 38.

“But I am like a deaf man; I do not hear, like a mute man who does not open his mouth. I have become like a man who does not hear, and in whose mouth ...

    The Silence of God

    Where does the problem lie?

The link can be found here

    The text is as follows:

Does He have to say something? Let's talk about it on Deeper Waters.

Yesterday, I wrote some opening thoughts on God's silence. I wish to continue that today by looking at the problem from a different perspective. Our complaints about God with Him being silent usually go like this.

If God really cared, He would not be silent now.
    God is silent now.
    So God doesn't really care.

I highly question the first premise. Yesterday, I noted that I think the Bible is lacking in the number of times it has direct interaction between God and man. Usually, this interaction was... read more

    The Journey to Greatness

"There is a rumor going around that you are a mixture of water, chemicals, blood, tissue cells, brain cells, bones, muscles, hair, and a host of other things. Guess what? The rumor is true. There is also a rumor going around that you are a product of your environment. That rumor is also true. It's been reported that every person whose journey has come in contact with you makes you who you are. That rumor is also true. Within all the rumors surrounding your existence there is a tendency to reduce life to just words on paper, or reports in medical files, or statistical data in a computer.

What a waste it is to take a life as precious... read more

Opening Thoughts On The Silence Of God

    Where is He?

The link can be found here

    The text is as follows

"Why do I not hear from God?" Let's talk about it on Deeper Waters.

A reader yesterday suggested one cause of emotional doubt is the silence of God. Indeed, I had been planning on getting to that topic, but since it has been brought up, I might as well get to it. However, this is going to take more than one post. Therefore, consider this just a start to the topic and in fact, one I'm planning on writing a whole lot more on elsewhere.

To begin with, the reason this is such a large problem I suspect is because of a misnomer in the church. In our individualistic society, we have made it so that God... read more

    He isn’t here – He’s in you!

As of this date Easter Sunday 2013 is just another day on the calendar, or is it? (Please give me a moment so I can get up on my Soap Box.) I continue to see pictures of Jesus dying on the cross or pictures that depict the horrific events leading up to his death on the cross yet scenes of Jesus’ resurrection are few and far between. As important as Jesus’ death is to each of us it is what God did with Jesus’ death that lies at the Heart and Goal of God. (Okay I am stepping off my Soap Box now.)

The angel said to the women, "Don't be afraid! I know you are looking for Jesus, who was nailed to a cross. He isn't here! God has raised him... read more

    So Great Sin

Does the grace of God go that far?

The link can be found here

    The text is as follows:

"How can I be a Christian when I have so much sin in my life?" Let's talk about it on Deeper Waters.

Some friends of Deeper Waters in my last blog commented on how many Christians question their salvation because of sin in their lives. They're entirely correct. Now we know we all have sin in our lives, which is an important point to keep in mind, but what about the person who struggles repeatedly with a sin and goes to bed at night saying "Tomorrow, I'll do better" and then wakes up saying "Today, I will do better" and yet before too long, what are they doing? They're... read more

    The Sanctuary of God’s PEACE…

“I ask him to strengthen you by his Spirit--not a brute strength but a glorious inner strength-- that Christ will live in you as you open the door and invite him in...” (Ephesians 3:16-17 MSG)

When we think of sanctuaries we normally think of structures where we can worship or feel safe. When violent storms are coming down on us we are advised to seek the sanctuary of a storm shelter. In early 1960’s people were building bomb shelters on their property so they could seek sanctuary in the event of a nuclear war. When our spirits are weakened because of the constant struggles with the “powers and principalities of this world” we find ourselves... read more

    The Journey of the Resurrection

The journey of the Resurrection began long ago as Adam and Eve first gained knowledge of good and evil and with their expulsion from the Garden of the Creator. It is a journey that would remain hidden for thousands of years behind the faces and lives of those who would deny God’s rightful place in their lives. Hidden until one fateful night in another Garden. A Garden called Sacrifice. A Garden called Surrender. A Garden called Love. A Garden called Gethsemane where Jesus powered by his love for each one of us surrendered and offered his life as a sacrifice. A few days later he died and the gateway to the journey of the Resurrection swung open... read more

    Salvation Doubt

Is it keeping you up at night?

The link can be found here

    The text is as follows:

Did you pray the right prayer? Let's talk about it on Deeper Waters.

One of the worst kinds of emotional doubt a Christian can go through is the doubt over their salvation. Many a Christian has gone through this and are relieved to find that it is a common doubt in fact. (Yes. Even I have gone through this kind of doubt and in fact am glad I did since it ultimately got me into apologetics.)

Gary Habermas has said he's collected statistics from people on how many times they've prayed the prayer. Top place goes to a lady who prayed for her salvation over 5,000 times. Second place went to... read more
