I remember as a kid sitting in front of our black and white television set anticipating here the word booming from the speaker, “More powerful than a locomotive! Faster than a speeding bullet! Able to leap tall buildings in a single bound! It's Superman!” And George Reeves would fly across the screen in his superman costume saving the day for someone. Superman was really a Newspaper Reporter named Clark Kent who came to earth ...

    If Part One...
    By Gary Piper

“See, I am setting before you today a blessing and a curse: the blessing, IF you obey the commandments of the LORD your God, which I command you today, and the curse, IF you do not obey the commandments of the LORD your God…” Deuteronomy 11:16 – 11:28)

This is probably a question I ready know the answer to but I’m going to put it to you anyway. If you had a choice whether or not you want your life blessed or cursed by God which would you choose?

One of the most important and often overlooked words that will make their way though your life is the simple two letter word “IF” within it lay the power to be either blessed or the power to be cursed. As ...

I Have Seen a Great Darkness!
    By Gary Piper

A note before proceeding: What you are about to read is based on an experience I had while praying and journaling, the description you will encounter has been created in my imagination based upon my encounter with an indescribable power.

“The eye is the lamp of the body. So, if your eye is healthy, your whole body will be full of light, but if your eye is bad, your whole body will be full of darkness. If then the light in you is darkness, how great is the darkness!” (Matthew 6:22 – 6:23)

I have seen with my own eyes a great darkness! Darkness so hideous, evil, wicked, slithering, and stealthy it defies description. In the entire history ...

Our Hunger and Thirst for Justice
    By Gary Piper

Near the top of the list of the world’s most needful things is Justice. One only needs to read a newspaper, watch a television news report, or spend even a small amount of time out and about in the world to experience the need for justice.

In fact humankinds need for justice that brought God alive in our world in the person of Jesus Christ. And even more than that Jesus’ birth, life, trial, execution, death, and resurrection once and for all defined justice.

There are two primary forms justice – human justice and divine justice. The only thing in common they have is both of them end in the word justice. For the most part the world ...

We are on a journey a rough and tumble gotta keep moving ahead journey.
Some see life as a journey from birth to death, from life to eternity.
Some see life as a journey through hell.
Some see life as a time to climb a social ladder and gain riches.
Some see life as a burden to be endured, as a series of pleasantries.
In whatever way you see life of this you can be certain, the journey began with Jesus Christ and it will one day end with God.
Many see death as the final journey yet death isn't a journey - death is only a brief pause on the final journey. In case you are wondering

    Inside Psalm Twenty-Two
    By Gary Piper

Have you ever felt like life has beaten the life out of you?

Have you ever felt like you were somehow transported to the moon?

Have you ever thought you’ve heard God saying, “You are on your own”?

If you’ve answered yes to any of the above questions or if you know of someone who has then you need to take a trip inside Psalm Twenty-Two. Some have said that this Psalm tells of Jesus’ experience on the cross. But I say does not only tell of Jesus’ life but ours as well.

Psalm Twenty-Two begins is the pit and ends in Heaven.

1My God, my God, why have you abandoned me? Why are you so far away ...

Well NSM has been updated for 2008. New site and new things to amuse.

Over the next week or so we will be adding back all of our content from the old site, so if something is missing please let us know and we will get it up for ya soon.

We have shut down our Evo section and directed it to Tweb. This way Gary doesn't have to post it twice in one day.

We are working on each article being placed on Tweb and a link to discuss if you so choose.

Well thank you for taking the time reading this post and Happy B-day Tweb as well. ...

    So Great Sin

Does the grace of God go that far?

The link can be found here

    The text is as follows:

"How can I be a Christian when I have so much sin in my life?" Let's talk about it on Deeper Waters.

Some friends of Deeper Waters in my last blog commented on how many Christians question their salvation because of sin in their lives. They're entirely correct. Now we know we all have sin in our lives, which is an important point to keep in mind, but what about the person who struggles repeatedly with a sin and goes to bed at night saying "Tomorrow, I'll do better" and then wakes up saying "Today, I will do better" and yet before too long, what are they doing? They're... read more

    The Sanctuary of God’s PEACE…

“I ask him to strengthen you by his Spirit--not a brute strength but a glorious inner strength-- that Christ will live in you as you open the door and invite him in...” (Ephesians 3:16-17 MSG)

When we think of sanctuaries we normally think of structures where we can worship or feel safe. When violent storms are coming down on us we are advised to seek the sanctuary of a storm shelter. In early 1960’s people were building bomb shelters on their property so they could seek sanctuary in the event of a nuclear war. When our spirits are weakened because of the constant struggles with the “powers and principalities of this world” we find ourselves... read more

    The Journey of the Resurrection

The journey of the Resurrection began long ago as Adam and Eve first gained knowledge of good and evil and with their expulsion from the Garden of the Creator. It is a journey that would remain hidden for thousands of years behind the faces and lives of those who would deny God’s rightful place in their lives. Hidden until one fateful night in another Garden. A Garden called Sacrifice. A Garden called Surrender. A Garden called Love. A Garden called Gethsemane where Jesus powered by his love for each one of us surrendered and offered his life as a sacrifice. A few days later he died and the gateway to the journey of the Resurrection swung open... read more

    Salvation Doubt

Is it keeping you up at night?

The link can be found here

    The text is as follows:

Did you pray the right prayer? Let's talk about it on Deeper Waters.

One of the worst kinds of emotional doubt a Christian can go through is the doubt over their salvation. Many a Christian has gone through this and are relieved to find that it is a common doubt in fact. (Yes. Even I have gone through this kind of doubt and in fact am glad I did since it ultimately got me into apologetics.)

Gary Habermas has said he's collected statistics from people on how many times they've prayed the prayer. Top place goes to a lady who prayed for her salvation over 5,000 times. Second place went to... read more

    Got Faith?

This morning Glory Seed contains edited portions from Prayer Journal if you journal you know journal’s are private and should not be shared with anyone else. However, there have been a few times when the Holy Spirit prompts me to share what I’ve written in my journal this morning is one of those rare occasions.

I believe at times all we really need to keep our spirits up and give us a little hope is to see some forward positive progress. Having said that with you as our God and as long as you are living through us there is always forward positive progress no matter if we can see it or not. I know this is nothing new to me but I can feel the Holy Spirit... read more

    What if?

    But....but....

The link can be found here

    The text is as follows:

What is a sign of emotional doubt? Let's talk about it on Deeper Waters.

Imagine you're a Christian with some background in apologetics. Now you have someone who is coming to you who's also a Christian and is doubting and you present a case to them and make it clear throughout that this is where the overwhelming evidence leads. The person you're trying to help agrees that all that evidence is extremely strong, but ah, here comes the objection.

    "But what if?"

This person isn't disputing all the evidence you've brought forward. They have no argument against it. There's just this... read more

    God the Ultimate Conversationalist…

“If you have ears, LISTEN to what the Spirit says to the churches… LISTEN! I am standing and knocking at your door. If you hear my voice and open the door, I will come in and we will eat together.” (Revelation 3:13, 20 CEV, emphasis mine)

NEVER let anyone tell you God doesn’t speak to you! In fact God NEVER stops speaking to you! Twenty-four hours a day seven days a week God speaks with you and in you! If you are thinking God wouldn’t speak to the likes of me because I slammed the door shut on him to many times, or I’ve sinned to many times, or I have so much hatred and anger in me he’s turned me off, or any other reason. You are... read more

    Book Plunge: Who Was Jesus?

Find out how Spong is wrong.

The link can be found here

    The text is as follows:

Is Wright right and Spong wrong? Let's talk about it on Deeper Waters.

I am an avid fan of N.T. Wright and try to read absolutely anything that he writes. My latest read of his came from reading "Fabricating Jesus" where Evans dispenses with people like Barbara Thiering yet says N.T. Wright has written a response to her in "Who Was Jesus?"

That's enough to get me looking for that on my next library visit!

Thiering is not Wright's only target. Wright has other chapters on A.N. Wilson and John Shelby Spong.

It's hard to read this book without... read more
