Shunyadragon, thanks. Now, then you use reason and facts, not necessarily what some holy book admonishes to do morally, eh?
This covenant morality for humanity ,as I call it , most Brtions follow rather than any derived from the Tanakh and the Testament.. It is consequentialist, deontological and uses the virtues.
The Ten Commandments, if followed , would set up a totalitarian state, in that the first four apply only to honoring Yahweh, nothing of importance for humanity. Honoring naughty parents is a no no! So, there are four left that are applicalble to humanity. And as Shunyadragon observes, they are universal and pre-historical.
One does not read those books in context to discern that they imply immorality! The first one glorifies a mad being murdering most people in the Deluge, advocate genocide, stoning for children who cheek their parents and stoning for those who work on the sabbath ; the second glorifies the divine protection plan and Hell and condoning slavery, mocks love they neightbor!
No rational being would do what Yahweh does! Fortunately, most of the Tanakh is false history, such that the evil events did not occur!
Irrationalists try ever to rationalize the evil, stating for instance, that had the Amalekite children lived, they would also be evil rather than going to Heaven. :b_
Anon I shall show the paradox of subjectivism underpinning objective morality! I'll also show how this morality for humanity is somewhat uniiversal while relative.
Revolutionist for horrid times, please ponder our comments rather than apply a pre-set diatribe!
