Should Christian college students go to Christian schools?

Atheist blogger and author John Loftus has some advice for Christian college students: don't go to an evangelical school. Instead,

It's not a black and white issue, I think. Religious schools have varying degrees of conformity, and secular schools having varying degrees of bias as well. I'm a staff member at a large State university. I can confirm that a student I know was treated much as described in the article in a women's study course. But our religion people seem sane. I'd prefer to see kids learn from them than from many church schools, though certainly not all. And I'd much prefer to see them learn biology and astronomy from our folks, and not people who reject evolution or the big bang.

There may be a degree of stereotyping going on in the original posting about evangelicals. There are certainly evangelicals who have their own special science, history, archaeology, and theology. I'd like to see students stay away from that. But that's not representative of all evangelicals, any more than all humanities people push their ideologies in secular schools. But the stereotypes do exist for a reason.

Good points. As I mentioned in the post, I didn't go to a Christian school. I don't think it should be the default option for Christians of college age, but if an evangelical university offers a unique degree or you want to study under a particular scholar, then go to that school.
