Aid and Comfort to the Enemy

I suppose the answer is between God and the person involved. Still I wonder...

The last time I left a church it was because I saw that despite being called "Christ-Centered" it was actually "Pastor-Centered." Everything was about how wonderful the pastor was. That he was preaching the Health and Wealth / Prosperity / Name it and Claim it gospel (which one dependent on the week) didn't help any.

As I struggled on whether or not to leave, I just not come up with an answer to the question on how I would explain to Jesus when I give an accounting of my life why I stayed and supported a church that was not advancing the Gospel. Eventually I decided there was no answer for the question for me and I left.

I still wonder sometimes how a person can stay at a church when the church isn't serving Christ. I KNOW all churches have faults, are not perfect, and are full of sinners but some churches seem to be much more sinner than saint.

I agree, like my priest who admitted to being an atheist. My husband still goes because he is fulfilled in that church but I am turned off from it and have to wait 6 years before they change priests again.

Again, my sympathies. I know you've talked about this before.

I just found out today that our pastor is leaving next year to return to Africa as a missionary. Since we don't know who will be replacing him, its an unsettling situation for my wife and me.
