The mormon religion claims that God used joseph smith to restore His Church due to the Church being apostate for 1800 years but trying to find out from mormons when this great apostacy happened is like trying to find a needle in a hay stack. I have seen the mormons say several times that we believe in the same Jesus but it is apparent when you read through the threads that there doesn't seem to be any doctrinal agreements between Christians and mormons. OK, I'm learning... there are 3 Heavens, according to Mormons, and it is my understanding that I cannot get into the 3rd heaven because I don't believe Joseph Smith was a prophet, OR that the BoM is "real". Can we stop derailing threads with accusations that the other party isn't acting "nice"? It's getting kind of boring. I think people should be civil and shouldn't try to antagonize people on a personal level (e.g. "I heard you're a drug addict!"), and to be honest I find the pointless trolling of LDS by Christians boring too, but this issue is just naturally divisive so you have to expect a lot of tension on this subject. This is a topic that will likely spur some discussion. Nearly all of Christendom believes God created from nothing or ex nihilo. LDS believe God created from eternally existing matter, or ex materia. While I believe in creation ex materia, I have seen where both sides present challenges and questions that are difficult for the other to answer.
