There is a lot of research coming out about the Quran having been made up from verses from the Christian Syriac Lectionary. The word "Quran" stems from Syriac Quryana. It is a fascinating area of study. Here is one of my favorite plagiarisims;

Perception is a powerful thing.
If I truly love my wife, but never tell her that, and i don't do things that demonstrate that I love her, then her PERCEPTION is not going to be that I love her. Isn't that true?

A couple of months ago, I happened to visit Guatemala’s countryside with my relatives. It was a marvelous view, with all kinds of foliages and clouds (except those that trail far and thin). Nature's toothbrush. The miswak is widely used in the Muslim world. Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) himself recommended its use. The Prophet (pbuh) said: "Make a regular practice of miswak for verily it is the purification for the mouth and a means of the pleasure for the lord." Al-Bukhari. I feel Quran has been copied from other text. I have a simple question to all the Muslims. If Quran was a final revalation for all mankind and all of us have to follow it we have the names of religion Jodism and Christanity mentioned in it. All the profets name in the reveled text are there but mention of any other religion is not there. This to me is too much of a coinsident as Mohammed is likely to have know only Jodisam and Christantiy as it is more accesable to him than Hinduisam or...

Good article I stumbled across not that long ago when reading through a Muslim website. It's interesting to note that Muslims have historically understood that their religion commands the Ummah to wage perpetual Jihad/Qital against unbelievers until they either convert to Islam or live under an Islamic state, as per Koran 9:29 (although the author never cites 9:29 and instead quotes 8:39 where he translates 'fitnah' differently from modern Western translators)

Muslim parents teach their children to respect their teachers. From a very young age, we are taught that Islam teaches us that after our parents, our teachers are most deserving of respect.

When you look at the PERCEPTION of the Islamic religion, "music" doesn't pop into mind.

So no matter what apologists on both sides try to argue, they use islamic sources.

No, that's NOT really what I think, but it seems that the USA is responsible for all of Islam's ills.
I have been dealing with apparent muslim apolgists who seem to think that muslims get undo credit for their own .. um... PR problem. Somehow, it's the fault of Christians, in particular, for not coming to the aid of their muslim brethren. Or for finding fault with them.
I can understand somebody claiming that Islam is only acting out because the US has military bases on muslim soil, or...

The Christian worldview allows for varying degrees of inclusivism. There are some that believe that even those that do not follow the traditions of the church, but consistently seek God will be granted a place in heaven.
Are there such thoughts in Islam? From a Muslim perspective, is it possible for a non-Muslim to spend his entire life earnestly and sincerely seeking God through the wrong religion and yet still find a place in heaven?

A dear friend of mine, Omid Ghaemaghami recently translated a prayer for Muslims written in Arabic by Baha'u'llah. It reads as follows:

I believe that when a Muslim dies and goes to see Allah, his deeds are weighed. If his good deeds outweigh the bad deeds and he has completed the other pillars of Islam he will enter paradise. So, his bad deeds must have just been forgiven. How can Allah just forgive his sin without any consequences.

I'm currently reading two books about the expansion of the early armies of Islam into the Roman and Sassanian empires.
Now, there are no accounts by Persians of the conquest of their empire - all that we have are the accounts of Arab historians.

On another thread, I noticed several comments made by a 'new' member, asmaa. If I understood her posts correctly, asmaa believes that the Koran is perfectly compatible with modern science.

This is going to be a short thread. I was just curious if it is considered "blasphemous" to refer to God as a she in Islam. I remember reading that Jesus in the New Testament described God using female characteristics. So, in Christianity, it would not be inappropriate to say that God loves us like a mother loves her child or to refer to God as a she. However, from what I have seen on Muslim forums, this appears to be unacceptable. Is this an accurate view?

Christians often abuse me for not believing O.T. and its god. When they say “then you are not Christian at all.” I say “correct! I am worse than Judas Iscariot.
