If Leon Trotsky had ascended to the top of Soviet leadership in the 20's rather than Stalin, how might Europe be different? I am right now listening to a historical work called The Forgotten Man by Amity Shlaes- and like all history, it is being interpreted in a specific way by the author, I realize that, but in trying to filter out the bias and just listen to the facts, I have come to a dislike of Roosevelt's tactics during the depression era and see a great many of what I see as the unAmerican crap we have today as completely the spawn of that time. The other major event I think obviously was the civil war.

It was Samuel Huntington, not George Washington. George Washington didn't begin his term until 1789 - we declared our independence back in 1776, and we didn't go without a president for 13 years (although the idea is tempting, lol) Washingon was something like the 11th president. I remember when that last verse read, "As He died to make men holy let us die to make men free". It was changed to read, "As He died to make men holy let us live to make men free." That's bad enough. But yesterday in church they eliminated the second verse and added an entire new verse that I never heard of before. To me, some songs are sacred and should never be changed. And I think this is one of them. Just a rant.
