Kandhmal victory- a Christian-basher now ready for martyrdom.

I visited them several times. Now I am scheduled to go there on 5/18/09. I am not sponsored or helped by anyone except Christ in my 45 years of Christian ministry. I don’t seek as I see those helps diminish Christ-dependence. But I seek prayer from others especially in the Kandamal situation. Many Christians there were martyred and surviving Christians are starving or going back to Hinduism. This time I am persuading them to start small business or self-help. I have told many instances of torture to Christian people in Indian provinces other than our West Bengal. But here majority people respect Christians due to long helpful missionary activities here.

The persecuted Indian refugee Christians of Kandhmal are calling.
Since I visited them several times they are often calling me in distress. Their homes are ruined, properties looted. With their means of livelihood gone they are in cramped refugee camps in mud and slime. Now government is forcing them to go back to villages ruled by antichristian goons forcing them to deny Christ. Many had done so to their peril as they are now open to the deadly influences of evil sprits and witch doctors here....

Hi All,
I am a volunteer in a Prison Ministry called KAIROS. It is similar to the Walk to Emmaus, Cursillo, Tres Dias, type three/fourth day walks. However, it is tailored to the prison setting. I will inside a maximum security prison in Texas for most of four days. Wed will be a travel day to the unit and getting everything ready at the host church. Our charitable society is named after three C.M.S. missionary doctor martyrs. They died 70 years ago near my place in West Bengal district of India. I have visited the refugee camps situated in big towns, where many families live together in single room or tent, without any privacy. They are now homeless, poor and unemployed due to their faith. They can return home anytime if they recant faith to become Hindu again as many had recanted. The local Christian churches are supporting them a little temporarily. They have to be helped to new ways of earning livelihood in alien circumstances by learning new crafts and trade. They were all farmers...

Now I see how Hindus turned against the Christians, who ignored the second commandment, to hate and persecute them. It is the rule of all people not only Christians. So we the selfish self-centered well-off Hindus were driven out of east Bengal province by the poor neglected Muslims. Same thing happened in Kandhamal. The Trout family has some dear friends who've decided to take a three month trip to South America, part of the time is going to be used volunteering at an orphanage.
For lack of a better term, we'll call them the "Crazy Baker" family. Which includes Mr. and Mrs. Baker, their daughter and son.

I get fairly frequent emails and newsletters from a dear friend who works tirelessly in Zimbabwe, specifically Bulawayo. This person left a high ranking job with the government broadcasting company so that he could do God's work full time. His heart is really for the children, the most innocent of the suffering in Zimbabwe.
I have really felt the need to share a bit of the work he tirelessly does each and every day, I am very proud of him. He could have left Zimbabwe just like thousands...

I just received a prayer request e-mail from a woman at my church who is in contact with some of the missionaries we support in India. It appears that in the Indian state that they are in (Orissa or something similar) religious tensions were high, and have now gone crazy. A militant Hindu priest was murdered by an unknown assailant, Christians were blamed. Since this is the place for talking about missionary activity, I wanted to describe my experiences from this past summer. I was in Jordan, in the capital city Amman, from May-late July. We were working with two groups, one that was offering Christians escaping Iraq safe shelter/food/relief.... and another group that was building two churches up. I don't mean the actual structures. They were house churches.... but the people, the materials, figuring out how to pastor these places and how to keep...

Hey all, I'm gearing up for going to Thailand on a short term mission trip this summer. I have several prayer requests to ask:
1. For the team to be spiritually healthy and preparing for this summer. Thailand is a very spiritually oppressive place with many Buddhist strong-holds as well as rampant immorality.

Pray for the ministry of K.P. Yohanan in India who supports Indian nationals to preach the Gospel throughout the country of India. Many Christians are being persecuted, beaten , and killed by Hindu and Muslim extremists in that country. Also, pray for the peace of Jerusalem!

I just received this e-mail from a Church of the Nazarene Missionary. Often we think that the Middle East conflict only involves Jews and Arabs/Muslims.

I just want to let you know that my pastor and one of the elders will be traveling to India for their annual missionary trip. This trip is going to be different, though, as they will not be working together. The elder will be traveling to India sometime this week, to work in an area he's never visited. My pastor will be traveling with a group of over 10 people later on this month.

I have heard that the Russian government does not allow any new religious groups into the country unless they have the approval of the Russian government and the Russian Orthodox Church. I have heard that they also tried to ban the Salvation Army from operating in the Soviet Union. This to me along with Putin's rigging of the Constitution of Russia foretells of the Russian invasion into Israel which is mentioned in Ezekiel 38! I believe these happenings portend that the Russian invasion...

I have been writing and helping a Thai prisoner in Jail he is now a Christian.
the thing is people in prison in Thailand do not have an income and require outside help to survive as they get one bowl of rice a day paid for and that is it. any money they earn from working in the jail is spent on clothes or food as nothing else is supplied to them.
the thing is being in the position I am in at the moment I have not been able to continue to help my sponsored person... it does not cost a lot.

What is poor? When does one cross that line where now they are categorized as poor? One might say, “Well if your on the streets” another “If your on welfare”. But like anything else it is open to interpretation. I recently read a frustrating piece of literature by Christopher Hitchens about Mother Teresa. It's only a fancy at this point - but it got me to wondering what langauge these people speak.

Hey everyone,
Tomorrow I head out on a plane trip to Africa for 8 months. I'll be teaching at a college there to help complete my masters. I suppose that doesn't neccessarily mean I'm leaving TWeb. I have read about young (nominal) Christian girls being coerced or enticed into Islam. And, more recently, I heard this report from Christian Aid: Between 12,000 and 15,000 Christian girls annually are becoming Muslims this way in Egypt.

I start my new part-time job tonite as security patrol for my apartment complex. Overnights on weekends.
Here in minneapolis it gets very cold overnight, and we have homeless people sneaking in to sleep under the stairs and in other secluded spots.

Im looking for a good source of mission information. I'd like to get some information on missions to over seas places. I meet a man, who the next morning left for Cambodia, to teach people about christianity under the threat of death.

There is an ongoing debate over at CTM about the benefits of short term missionary work.
It seems that too many STMs are too much vacation and a rather ineffecient way to help Christianity in the 2/3rds world. It doesn't make USChristians more committed to helping out with future missions work, either, for them to have been on a short terms missions project.
I just thought people would find it interesting. I do after having just returned from Ukraine to the US.

I got an e-mail that in India, there are some new converts to Christianity, from Hinduism that have been threatened to convert back by Nov 20th, or they would be burnt alive. Please pray for them, and this came from 'Gospel for Asia.'
