I am watching Sophie's Choice right now as it was recommended to me as a classic movie. So far, it sucks quite frankly, but I will give my final opinion when I am done. Meryll Streep does an awesome acting job, it is the story that is boring me to death.

I love this show. I was also forced to read the manga since I wanted to know what happens next and right now it's in the mother of all cliffhangers, and likely to keep that way for a few weeks. The anime was dull the last few episodes but I'm hoping it'll get better next time. If they have another episode full of drawn out boring speeches before the fight starts I'm gonna be pissed.

Has anybody played this yet? I have. It's pretty good. I loved the new addition to armored SWAT team zombies and mini-boss zombies. The roving Witch is a nice touch, even if it does make my nerves fry. I also loved my character of choice, Ellis. He seems to be an "everyday man" who can make you laugh just by listening to his accent. But I didn't like the new music that plays when a horde comes. Fiddle music? Really? I have a co-worker who's let me borrow the first two seasons. Anyone else watch this? I don't care for the language much of the time, but the idea I find fascinating as well as the moral questions raised. I got bored, so I decided to write this: - Notes: - In western music, there is a total of 12 different notes. I haven't really messed with my acoustic guitar in a long time. However, I picked it up the other day and decided to actually learn some songs. Just wanted to bring attention to the series JFK: 3 Shots currently making the rounds on the history channel. It's well worth watching. The approach is very interesting: segments of the original television coverage and later documentaries, etc., shown in chronological order with little or no commentary. One gets a feel for not just the sequence of events, but the mood of the time and the changing views of the event. -Neil

I've seen the pilot as well as the episode from last Friday. I am withholding judgment on this for now, but so far it looks like their taking a few pages from both Battlestar and Lost. Not that this is bad, those are both good shows. However, I think the kid who lives with his mother, plays video games, and is suddenly teleported away to a spaceship is kind of cheesy concept. They are clearly trying to pluck at the heartstrings of much of their target audience.

I know for a fact that I'm not the only one who plays Fallout 3. :demure: Here is a character of mine. Lt Downey, Level 5-ish, an Enclave refugee (I have an alternate start mod). The first one is a picture of my squad before we went into Old Olney. (I use a mod that changes the armor to what it looked like in Fallout 2) The second one is a picture of myself after a dozen Deathclaw Matriarchs ripped through us. Sole survivor. :frown:

I saw this movie the other night. Pretty entertaining and I loved Hugo Weaving; but I'm not sure what to make of the message of the movie. But I suppose the morality of V's actions is intentionally left vague. What I found neat is that the actor that plays the chancellor also played Winston Smith in "1984". Anyone bought/rented Demon's Souls? reviews] I uncharacteristically bought it based off the hype when it came out yesterday. Loving it! Strikes me as a combination of Nethack mechanics and Diablo theme. Hard but fair. Every time you die, you drop all of your currency (used back in 'town' to buy levels and gear), get sent to the start of the level with all enemies respawned, and now you have to reach the spot you died without dying again or you lose that currency permanently. I've been playing a good bit of more old-school games lately. Through Wii's virtual console, I got to play Final Fantasy 4: the After Years. It's technically new, but was built on a base provided by the GBA remake of Final Fantasy 4, so is technologically similar. I have a Korg X50 keyboard which has the Triton sound set. However, it seems to take up space and for live recording must be hooked up to the (back of my) hardrive or as a mere controller for USB. I also don't really ever plan to do any live gigs with it as I find configuring a synth for live performance to be inconvenient as well as lugging it around. I assume it's just better to use a softsynth. Are there any reasons I should keep this synth over using a softsynth instead of selling it for...

Hey, just wondering what kind of anime fans we have here. I know there's already a thread for Naruto, but that's the only anime thread I've seen, so I thought I would create a more general one to discuss other anime as well. The name I remember is The Adventurers and it was about two guys and a gal that went on missions for clients...the lead man always reminded me of Corbin Bernsen but it's not. The other guy is younger of course, and the series ended after his death from some illness. The show often had a supernatural theme. I believe the show ran for two seasons at least, about 2003 - 2005? just going crazy trying to remember. Doing some research. Any tips would help.

I've recently developed an increasing fondness for shoot 'em ups/shmups. So, tell me about the times you've found as great or greater sight of God in secular music than you had in Christian music? The first song I always think of is "I Walk Beside You" by Dream Theater, from the album Octavarium. The song is extremely uplifting and reassuring, feeling like a walk through the Psalms rather than a progressive metal ballad. Check it out!
