    I have a nightly practice where I will read a short passage of Scripture right before I turn out the lights and ask myself questions about it as I go to sleep. Bizarre, but my mind is one that is always running and I want it to have something concrete to run on. I have been going through the gospel of Mark and I read last night about the cleansing of the temple in Mark 11. If you know the passage, it is sandwiched in between the cursing of the fig tree and the death of the fig tree.

    Are All Beliefs To Be Respected?

    Quite recently, I have seen several interactions in the internet world with people of different beliefs and each time I have seen statements like "I respect your beliefs" or "Let's all try to respect the beliefs of one another." I understand why some people make such sentiments, but I cannot help but think that they are fundamentally built on an error.

    Are we prepared for missions service? Let's talk about it on Deeper Waters.

    Let's suppose your church group was wanting to go on a mission trip to a country in Africa. You were told that you are going to an area where Malaria is common. There is a harmless vaccination you can get to inoculate you against the disease that is also inexpensive. Or, you could go and get it and afterwards have a much harder time recovering from the sickness and enjoying all the effects of it.

    Living the Christian Life

    There are times when living the Christian Life doesn’t make any sense to me. Yesterday I quoted, “Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.     A friend of Deeper Waters recently sent me an article wanting a response. It's written by Vern Poythress and can be found here. My problem mainly with how to approach this is that I am not a scientist. I do not speak in scientific terms and if I have no reason to think that someone has not done strong scientific study, I question their statements. Theologians, philosophers, and historians who wish to speak on science as science should study science as science.

    The Rat Race, God, you, and the rats

    The rats are still winning the Rat Race!

    Several times I’ve considered dropping out and there have been brief periods of time when I have gone on vacation but the gravitational pull of the race always snags me and brings me back.
