    Easter in June, July, and beyond…

    Every year at Easter, when the blooms fall off our Easter Lilies I plant them in our back yard. In 2011 I planted two plants and soon the old plants died and new plants began growing. Then one day inadvertently the lawn mower did them in and we said a few words over their demise and forgot about them. Until this spring, when much to our surprise they pushed their way up through the dirt and into the sunny side of the dirt.

    And they grew. And they grew. And blooms began to grow. And they grew until June 28th when we once again had Easter Lilies! The dead came to life and once again beautified our lives!

    Stay Vertical

    With my two artificial hips and extremely fragile femurs one of my greatest fears over the winter months is slipping and falling on ice and snow now that there is no more ice and snow I still fear falling in the yard or riding my bike. One of my favorite sayings throughout the year is “Stay Vertical!” In other words don’t fall!

    However, my fear of falling goes beyond physically falling and injuring myself it “falls” into my spiritual life as well. It was Paul who said, “We have all fallen short of the Glory of God.” In his letter to Titus he STRONGLY reminds us to stay “upright” (stay vertical) “in the present age” because just as in his days there... read more

    Quite recently, I have seen several interactions in the internet world with people of different beliefs and each time I have seen statements like "I respect your beliefs" or "Let's all try to respect the beliefs of one another."     Are we prepared for missions service? Let's talk about it on Deeper Waters.

    Let's suppose your church group was wanting to go on a mission trip to a country in Africa. You were told that you are going to an area where Malaria is common. There is a harmless vaccination you can get to inoculate you against the disease that is also inexpensive. Or, you could go and get it and afterwards have a much harder time recovering from the sickness and enjoying all the effects of it.

    Living the Christian Life

    There are times when living the Christian Life doesn’t make any sense to me. Yesterday I quoted, “Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.” (Matthew 11:28-30 ESV) Yet this morning I find myself embattled by the struggles of living a Christian Life in a Me-Me world.
