  • Trump: Only stupid people don't want relationship with Russia

The UK tabloid the Daily Mail today (Sunday, Jan 8, 2017) ran the headline "Only stupid people don't want relationship with Russia': Donald Trump calls for closer ties with Putin in latest Twitter rant".

"In his latest Twitter rant, President-elect Donald Trump said on Saturday that 'only 'stupid' people or fools' would dismiss closer ties with Russia.

He added: 'We have enough problems without yet another one,' and said Russians would respect 'us far more' under his administration than they do with Barack Obama in the White House.

Trump remained unswayed after his classified briefing on an intelligence report that accused Moscow of meddling on his behalf in the election that catapulted him to power.

You might have missed a very important admission of the USA Intelligence Groups in their reports (proofs) of Russian incursions into the USA's cyber-space. It was easy to miss unless you were paying attention to the method of words used. It was a fleeting few words - the major proof of" Russian Hacking" is that USA Intelligence intercepted Russian communications. In short: the USA has hacked into Russian cyber-space and at a very high level if they are to be believed.

In the Daily Mail's report it says "Trump said closer ties [with Russia] will be one less problem for the US and perhaps both countries will work together to 'solve many of the great and pressing problems' of the world"

I agree with Trump in this regard. In the 19th century it was called the great game = It is easier to contain an enemy if you feign friendship.

Certainly! And Putin's been playing it with great expertise, the "enemy" being in this instance, the USA. No doubt Putin will get his man in the White House to lift sanctions on Russia, weaken NATO and overlook his incursions into neighbouring states as per Crimea. Putin's got it made.

Be interesting to see if this is how the US empire falls and the Soviet Union restores itself. One of my friends at uni was learning Russian, maybe I should have as well.

Well, you guys were SO RIGHT about Trump's chances of winning, so.....
The first to state his case seems right until another comes and cross-examines him.

why would having better relations with an enemy not be a good thing? how would having worse relations with Russia be a good thing?

There's no point antagonizing Russia right now, and diplomacy is preferable to war. Trump is right, only fools would oppose better relations with Russia.

It's worth noting that our current weakened position is directly attributable to 8-years of Obama's feckless foreign policy in which he made it harder for us to keep Russia in check. Remember Hillary's infamous "Russian reset", and the disastrous Uranium One scam? Or Obama caving to Putin over missile defense? Or Obama's Syrian "red line" that Putin stepped up to defend while Obama cowered in a corner?

Seriously, folks, you can't expect Trump to clean up Obama's mess overnight. It's going to take some time to untangle.

Putin's 2017 Christmas gifts to Trump; 2,000 laptop computers to improve ties to Trump's government. Improving ties couldn't be wrong.

It's a Top Secret, Confidential and need to know only. Purpose to bring closer ties between Russia and the USA, when no bodies looking.

I wasn't sure because he has this odd habit of not naming sources, or when he does name sources, they rarely say what he thinks they're saying.

My favorite was when he insisted that there's no evidence on which we can establish gospel authorship and supported his argument with a link to an article saying that we have multiple points of evidence on which to establish gospel authorship.

Putin is no friend of the United States. He has used his state media and an army of hackers and social-media trolls to spread disinformation in the US, in Europe and in Britain before the Brexit vote. His goals are to weaken The USA, European unity and the NATO alliance.

And, despite this Trump appoints his friend Tillerson, former CEO of Exxon Mobil (who has a very cosy relationship with Putin and Rosneft the Russian state oil giant), to be his new Secretary of State.

Trump appears to have no qualms about co-mingling his role as President with the private financial interests of his family and billionaire friends. The USA is in danger of becoming a mere extension of the Trump family business empire.
