  • God's Word delivers

I was listening this morning to Grace To You's radio broadcast and John MacArthur told about a letter he'd gotten from a man named Justin. Justin is an ex-painkiller addict who ministers to his local homeless community, many of whom are heroin addicts. One day, Justin prepared to go minister on a cold day by bundling up in his heavy coat and kept his new MacArthur study Bible underneath to protect it from the elements. But during the course of the day, one man stabbed him -- right in the Bible. Six months later, Justin baptized his would-be killer.

The Word of God does indeed deliver souls from death -- in more ways than one!

He should have made a sling to carry that study Bible under his coat. It's heavy!

    What a great story!

Leonard Knight was 17 when he was shot by a German soldier in World War I. Fortunately, he had placed his pocket Bible in his breast pocket. The bullet struck the Bible and lodged in it just 50 pages from the end. Thanks to the Bible, Knight survived without even a scratch.

His aunt, Minnie Yates, gave him the Bible with a note inside that said, “To Leonard, with love from Aunt Minnie. July 1915.”

No one is sure what happened to the young soldier or even where the event took place. It is believed that Knight survived the war.

The first to state his case seems right until another comes and cross-examines him.

Reminds me of a song I heard in around 1968, "Evolution and the Bible" by Hugh X Lewis.
. . . the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; . . . -- Romans 1:16 KJV

. . . that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures: . . . -- 1 Corinthians 15:3-4 KJV

Whosoever believeth that Jesus is the Christ is born of God: . . . -- 1 John 5:1 KJV
