  • My dog watches TV

My pup, Jake (the Younger) actually watches TV. I have never had a dog do that before. He will sit on the couch and stare at the TV and move his head to follow the action with his ears perked up.

Oh, and he will watch my laptop screen and track the cursor with his eyes and sometimes try to grab it. I think he believes it is a bug on the screen because he does the same thing at my patio door. He will sit there and try to catch the bugs on the other side that are attracted to the light inside the house. When he goes outside at night he tries to catch them.

One of my dogs used to get real interested in the TV whenever there were birds on. Then again he was a bird dog.

I'm always still in trouble again

My dog is too lazy to do that...

The only thing my Jake will do relative to the TV is bark like crazy and run to the front door when he hears a doorbell on TV. There's one commercial that keeps playing that has a doorbell in it. Jake just can't seem to accept that's ONLY ON TV.

He won't even LOOK at TV, even when we have the doggie channel on.
The first to state his case seems right until another comes and cross-examines him.

LOL. Jake did that yesterday. a doorbell rang on TV and he started barking and running around. The funny thing is I don't think anyone has ever actually rang my doorbell at my house so how does he know what it is? Maybe it is an instinctive enemy, like the vacuum cleaner.

We live way out in the country! I ALSO don't think our doorbell has actually rung - most people (friends and relatives) have our door code, so they just come on it!

Maybe it's one of those things instilled in them at birth from millions of years of evolution with ringing doorbells.

Our mailman doesn't come to the door. Our mailbox is a half mile down the road.

And it's LETTER CARRIER, you insensitive chauvinist boob!

                  Sorry for being racist.

But I was referring to the sound being genetically bred into them by generations of Mailmen ringing doorbells since the Paleolithic age.

We had a cat when my kids were small who always came into the room when Kermit was on. She would watch him. But any other tv things were of no interest to her.

Wouldn't that be the Maileolithic age?
