    Trump says 'more white people' are killed by police, while studies show Black people are more likely to be killed

    WASHINGTON – President Donald Trump claimed Tuesday that "more white people" die at the hands of police, despite studies that show Black people are more likely to be killed by law enforcement.
    In an interview at the White House, CBS News' Catherine Herridge brought up George Floyd, a Black man who died pleading for breath earlier this year as a Minneapolis police officer knelt on his neck.
    "Why are African Americans still dying at the hands of law enforcement in this country?" Herridge asked.
    "So are white people. So are white people," Trump replied. "What a terrible question to ask. So are white people. More white people, by the way. More white people."

    Black people are killed in police encounters at higher rates than white people, multiple studies have confirmed. Black men are 2.5 times more likely to be killed by police than white men, according to a University of Michigan, Rutgers University and Washington University study released last year. The study found that about 100 Black men and boys per 100,000, and 39 white men and boys per 100,000, are killed by police during their lifetimes.

    By numbers alone, a Washington Post analysis found that in about five years of police shooting data, 2,495 white people, 1,301 Black people and 907 Hispanic people were shot and killed by police.

    So, despite actually citing the numbers that prove Trump is right, they run around citing "rates". This is what we mean when we say TrumpOCD.

          Are you actually not aware of the difference between RATE and COUNT? Trump is the one playing numbers games. By citing only the count, he is trying to play down the severity of the difference in likelihood a black man will die by police violence as opposed to a white man. He is trying to imply the difference doesn't exist or is exaggerated.

          OK - lets try this out. Suppose there is a bridge, and 10 out of 11 people trying to cross it have died. And there is another bridge, and 20 out of 200,000 have died crossing it.

          If you have no choice but to cross one of the bridges, are you going to take the first bridge when Trump tells you - 'Hey, only 10 people have died crossing this bridge, 20 have died crossing the other. Take the first bridge."

                Actually, Brazil, Venezuela, India, and the Philippines all have more raw numbers. And per 10 Million people, the US isn't in the top 20. What's important in this thread is that Trump was talking about the raw numbers, and the LSM couldn't even report that correctly.

                  What's important is that by only using raw counts he was being deceitful and pushing out misinformation. The misuse of statistics is a long running con in government. So don't even try to claim that isn't what he was doing. As I pointed out in my example, and which you here ignore, in this case the raw counts are misleading, without comparisons by RATE, they are a means of lying about what is actually happening.
