How would Jesus solve the lifeboat problem(the one with an overcrowded lifeboat that's sinking)?
If it weren't for the Resurrection of Jesus, we'd all be in DEEP TROUBLE!

We can't speak for Jesus but here, we can't rule out the possibility of a miracle.
"I am not angered that the Moral Majority boys campaign against abortion. I am angry when the same men who say, "Save OUR children" bellow "Build more and bigger bombers." That's right! Blast the children in other nations into eternity, or limbless misery as they lay crippled from "OUR" bombers! This does not jell." - Leonard Ravenhill

POint! That's the thing about the WWJD saying. Jesus could do anything to solve a problem. So, what would be good for us to do? Why do these lifeboat problems not have some one will to do an heroic sacrifice?

You and 15 others are in a lifeboat which is now overloaded by the weight of one person. The water around you is surrounded by sharks. There is a island in the distance. You can't sacrifice yourself. What do you do? And for some reason, you are the only one who can make the choice and no one volunteers to die.

No details on who the other 15 are?

Random innocent bystanders. And none of them are named Clark Kent, Bruce Wayne, or any other character that could get you out of this bind.

Well if I have nothing to go on I will throw anyone who is not a young adult female off and head for the island with the rest hoping it's abandoned.

What are you planning on doing? Don't even think about telling me. What if this was a simulation? You will be graded. Half are men, half are wome. Ages ranging from 16-60. Some are rich, others are poor. Who will you choose? What will this choice say about you?

Any more ethical dilemmas? Feel free to create third options, but some would consider that to be cheating.

I may choose to throw everyone off, then once a person gets eaten by a shark or drowns, let everyone else back on. Let fate decide.

They all die at once. Now you have to live with it. How many no win dilemmas can one come up with? You are on a spaceship when you hear a distress signal coming form enemy territory... (star trek, anyone?)

Uhh, this is a pointless discussion if we're pretending to be Jesus. And "ethical dilemmas" with outlandish parameters are hardly worth discussing.

I know! It's fun to make fun of the really crazy ethical dilemmas that are so contrived that I wouldn't be suprised if Aquaman showed up to save them. That's the thing, ethical dilemmas manufactured for a philosophical discussion seem to have to cut off any possibility of picking a different option. We're not pretending to put Jesus in it. That would make it even more pointless than if you inserted the Justice League and the Avengers and the Enterprise crew and every other fictional hero. Because Jesus is real and infinity more aewsome and powerful than any character we can make up.

Maybe we should have this thread moved to a joke area so we can have fun poking holes into "ethical dilemmas"
