Glory Seed Devotionals, 2015: Year of Promise
Trusting God for the Outcome…
“God Most High, have pity on me! Have mercy. I run to you for safety. In the shadow of your wings, I seek protection till danger dies down.” (Psalms 57:1 CEV)
This morning during my Bible time I read, “I would rather obey you than to have a thousand pieces of silver and gold.” (Psalms 119:72 CEV) My first thought centered on “things I must do,” but then the human part of me reared its ugly head and I thought am I crazy or something when was the last time God paid my bills? The argument continued, “I must be crazy for thinking about money over God!” And I found myself apologizing and repenting.
Lately I’ve been agonizing over a rather large bill that is coming due it’s not we’ll not be able to pay it my concern is what about the other monthly bills also due at the same time. The other day I was listening to a radio minister telling his audience to trust and believe in God then went on to tell stories about people suddenly receiving large amounts of money they never expected. And I found myself trusting in “God’s bail out Gary” program.
Then this morning reading about trusting in God rather than silver and gold I discovered I was trusting Him in the storm while at the same time forgetting to trust Him for and in the outcome. It was as if the Holy Spirit was telling me, “Gary, wait for the eye of the storm and with God’s help ride it out and trust him for the outcome.” One of my favorite types of movies are disaster movies. The other day I was watching one about a terrible storm that was destroying life and property when suddenly people found themselves in the “eye of the storm” where it was as if there were no storm. I believe that describes what the Holy Spirit is trying to get US to understand.
Believe! Anticipate! Experience! Be transformed!
Grace and PEACE, Amen!
Gary
