Apologetics 301 Guidelines

If you think this is the area where you tell everyone you are sorry for eating their lunch out of the fridge, it probably isn't the place for you

This forum is open discussion between atheists and all theists to defend and debate their views on religion or non-religion. Please respect that this is a Christian-owned forum and refrain from gratuitous blasphemy. VERY wide leeway is given in range of expression and allowable behavior as compared to other areas of the forum, and moderation is not overly involved unless necessary. Please keep this in mind. Atheists who wish to interact with theists in a way that does not seek to undermine theistic faith may participate in the World Religions Department. Non-debate question and answers and mild and less confrontational discussions can take place in General Theistics.

  • The Fall, Original Sin and Atonement

In a previous thread in Civics the subject came up concerning the Fall and Original Sin, and Atonement. There were objections to my view of Original Sin and the Fall by some. This was probably off topic in the previous thread. There for I believe an alternate thread for the discussion of the topic is warranted.

Adam described my view of Original Sin as a Calvinist belief no longer accepted by most Christians. I will address this in a separate post.

Gustaf Aulen was cited to in some way supported Adam's view here"

Adam attempted to use Aulen to justify his objection to the Fall and Original Sin. I will address this in a later post. Gustaf Aulen does not help the case for an alternate view beyond the presentation of alternate views of atonement that do not resolve the differences nor argue strongly for a change in the traditional view of the 'Fall and Original Sin.'

If Adam wishes to pursue this view using Aulen, he needs to cite Aulen specifically.

Yes, this has become a controversial subject in the 20th Century and different Theologians offer different views and explanations, but I believe the traditional view of the Fall and Original Sin remains at the foundation of traditional Christian belief, and it is not the Calvinist view which I will address in a later post.

I only have quoted you specifically so that there would be no miscommunication. Please cite Gustaf Aulen specifically to support your claim so that there will be no misunderstanding. I have read his work and others that describe his works in the past.
