Glory Seed Devotionals, 2015: Year of Promise
2016 Year of More Light and Truth…
Just when I think I’ve pretty much have a handle on things something comes along and throws a monkey wrench into my finally-got-things-figured-out-life. This morning I came across a monkey wrench in a prayer in Creighton Universities Daily Christmas Prayer, “If only my eyes could be opened! Give me the wisdom and internal vision to see and I will recognize you as my savior not only in my heart today but in my life every day.”
And here I thought all this time my eyes were open but I was so confronted by those 36 words I stopped mid-stream and found myself fighting against the current trying to keep my faith afloat. However when the phrase “you will not drown” came along, “When you go through deep waters, I will be with you. When you go through rivers of difficulty, you will not drown. When you walk through the fire of oppression, you will not be burned up; the flames will not consume you.” (Isaiah 43:2, NLT) I concluded the LORD had more light and truth for these tired old eyes of the heart of mine.
With 2016 only 2 days away what better time than now to peel away false eyelids and allow more Light and Truth from the Holy Spirit to shed new Light and Truth on Jesus who comes into our lives not only to save us from ourselves but to give us a better more fulfilling life, “…My purpose is to give them a rich and satisfying life.” (John 10:10, NLT) Therefore let us proclaim 2016: Year of More Light and Truth, “…the time of the Lord’s favor has come.” (Luke 4:19, NLT) And turn the “eyes of our hearts” to the Holy Spirit for the wisdom and inner vision we need to see, recognize, and experience the Jesus we need in our everyday lives.
Finally, be strong in the Lord and in the strength of his might!
Grace and PEACE, Amen!
Gary
