Glory Seed Devotional’s, 2016: Year of the Blessing…
2017! Bring it on!
Shalom!
If you’ve ever just skimmed over the following two verses without stopping then before saying goodbye to 2016 I suggest you take however long it takes and allow the Holy Spirit to experience them. “The Word gave life to everything that was created, and his life brought light to everyone. The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness can never extinguish it.” (John 1:4–5, NLT)
This morning as I reflect back on 2016 and at the same time anticipate what may be in store for me next year, 2017 is beginning to look a little ominous. Even though darkness (unknown) hammers away at my life yet from deep in my memory John 1:4–5 comes alive powerfully reminding me of Psalm 43:5, “Why am I discouraged? Why is my heart so sad? I will put my hope in God! I will praise him again— my Savior and my God!” (Psalm 43:5, NLT)
Jesus (the Word) gave life to YOU! You are more than an intricate gathering of muscle, skin, bones, a nervous system, a brain, a heart, lungs, and other physical organs you are a DIVINE LIFE! The life given you by Jesus is powered by his light, a light so powerful and lasting that NOTHING can extinguish it – NOTHING! Do you know what that means? Have you ever stopped to realize the significance the 29 words of John 1:4–5 are to your life? Have you ever stopped to realize how significant the unseen light of Jesus in you? Do you know what “and the darkness can never extinguish it” really means to you?
While I leave you to think about the above questions, John 1:4–5, Psalm 43:5, please allow Psalm 43:3–4 to become words of prayer for 2017 and beyond. “Send out your light and your truth; let them guide me. Let them lead me to your holy mountain, to the place where you live. There I will go to the altar of God, to God—the source of all my joy. I will praise you with my harp, O God, my God!” (Psalm 43:3–4, NLT)
May all your experiences in 2017 be “flavored” by the touch of the Holy Spirit!
Happy New Year from Patti and Gary Piper!
“I pray that God, the source of hope, will fill you completely with joy and peace because you trust in him. Then you will overflow with confident hope through the power of the Holy Spirit.”**
GRACE and PEACE,
Gary
