Supporting Corruption
Biblically is this wrong? If so, why do we support it?
We all know about (and most of us ignore) the corruption in this world (in the sense of human exploitation), that is why there is fair trade, because most things aren't 'fair' (in other words they are, unjust) . Our economic system thrives off inequality and exploitation, so, why do we support it?
Companies and corporations ranging from big and small have human rights abuse allegations laid against them, some major examples are Nike, Coca Cola, Walt Disney even! (And yes, I do know most of these are just allegations, but still!).
Does the Bible support injustice? Should we be?
Now, onto the environmental side of things. Let me use an example that is kind of out of the ordinary. The meat and dairy industry.
The meat and dairy industry is doing terrible things to Gods Earth (if you want to read about the extent of it, this is a report written by LEAD and a the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organisation: http://www.virtualcentre.org/en/libr...d/A0701E00.htm)
The meat industry has a worse impact on the environment than the auto mobile industry has! The meat industry ruthlessly exploits the worlds resources and then pumps its toxic waste into our waterways. Should we be supporting this ruthless exploitation and destruction of Gods Earth? Is it Biblically incorrect?
Is supporting corrupt industries ethically incorrect?
Thoughts?
