LEVITICUS 20:9 - For every one that curseth his father or his mother shall be surely put to death: he hath cursed his father or his mother; his blood shall be upon him
LEVITICUS 20:9 - For every one that curseth his father or his mother shall be surely put to death: he hath cursed his father or his mother; his blood shall be upon him.
How do the literalists on the Christian Right who interpret every word in the Bible as divinely inspired integrate Biblical verses like LEVITICUS 20:9 into their theology?

What did they say when you asked them?
Or are you merely being rhetorical here?
Why is this in civics?"Personally though, I won't use psychoactives because of the possibility of contacting a demon." - Kelp

It appears there has been a system restore point.

I'm not sure exactly what is being asked..... isn't this a Law of the Old Covenant?
'If chance be the father of all flesh, disaster is his rainbow in the sky. And when you hear, "State of Emergency!!; Sniper Kills Ten; Troops on Rampage; Youths Go Looting; Bomb Blasts School", it is but the sound of man worshipping his maker.'.

I say look at the context. This was a situation where the family was the pillar of society. This also wasn't just a one-time thing. This was more often a lifestyle offense that had finally reached a peak. In order to bring about the good of the society, the death penalty was enacted.

Belief in Literalism does not mean that we believe that all things in the Scripture are equally binding. For instance; we no longer perform animal sacrifices. The injunction you mention was an aspect of the ancient Israeli civil law as revealed by God specifically for them.
Good tests kill flawed theories; we remain alive to guess again.
