Neurological question for theists
Hey there everyone, I have an important question:
If God exists, then why do we use only 10% of our functioning brain?
I would think, that if humans really are a super-intelligent animal with a special intended purpose, why do we use so little of our brain? Shouldn't it be more fully functioning? I look forward to hearing your thoughts, particulary if you work in a science-related field.Truth Be Told

There are two equal and opposite errors into which our race can fall about the devils. One is to dis-believe in their existance. The other is to believe, and to feel an excessive and unhealthy interest in them. They themselves are equally pleased by both errors and hail a materialist or a magician with the same delight. -- C.S. Lewis

The common statement that "Humans only use ten percent of their brains" is a legend, and has been disproved by PET scans and fMRI. You may find this article on Snopes to be informative.
But the odd thin ... I wouldn't see how the use of our brains would be indicative of the existence of God at all.Life sometimes needs to be grabbed by the throat and beaten with a lead pipe. ~ Sir Longpost, a good friend of mine.

Not sure either (But the odd thin ... I wouldn't see how the use of our brains would be indicative of the existence of God at all.
), it just seemed to bother me. Even though it really makes no signifigant difference, it is an interesting question. Somehow it implies that we are naturalistic mistakes, as atheists claim, I'll investigate those links, very interesting.

Re: Neurological question for theists
Its a myth, however, certain aspects of brain functioning can give that impression. If every neuron fired all at once it would create a tremendous amount of heat, secondly nothing of consequence would be thought. It is the relational firing of specific neurons to the matrix that is your brain that gives us thoughts and ideas. So in one respect at any one time only a small number of neurons are functioning, although the full complement are loaded and ready.

One Radford shows it to be a myth. Now so many of us do not use our reason properly.
