Ken has become quite a friend. He's a gruff old guy who has been an engineer in petrochemicals for about 45 years, and has been retired for about 20. He's the classic "heart of gold wrapped in barbed wire" - he'll do anything for you, but he has to maintain this tough exterior. He doesn't fool me a bit.
He just found out last night that his oldest son committed suicide. On Good Friday.
His son had dealt with chronic depression, and Ken had thought that he (the son) was "back on track", having just finished a degree, preparing to launch a new career.
Ken is also dealing with a wife of 60 years who has dementia, and doesn't really know who Ken is half the time.
Please pray for Ken. And me, to have the wisdom to comfort him without making things worse.
Thanks
