Well, first of all, the 4GB iPhone has been dropped, and the 8GB has been reduced in price to $399.

Next, they released an iPod with touch screen, wifi, and wireless iTunes, 8GB and 16gb at $299 and $399.

New "fat" iPod Nanos.

Overall, I'm amazed at what the rumor community got right.

Here's the predictions I saw:

"Deca" flash iPhone with touch - Right (but they got the name wrong)
Fat Nano - Right
Custom ringtones - Right
...at 35¢ - Wrong
Eliminated Shuffle - Wrong
Coverflow on Nano - Right

Dropped 4GB iPhone - Out of nowhere
wifi iTunes store - Out of nowhere
iPhone price drop of $200 - Out of nowhere

Overall, not bad.

I am surprised that Apple confused pricing on the iPhone by having the iPhone priced at $399 and the larger touch iPod, that seems characteristically un-Apple.

But I think, after years of doubting, I have finally found an iPod worthy of my purchase. I guess I will be waiting for Christmas & birthday to get money for a 16GB touch iPod. I absolutely love the iPhone form-factor, and now that I can get an iPhone without the phone, I'll be all over that.

ok, i decided to get one. so i'm rushing through the apple store's site with credit card in hand only stopping long enough to see that the touch is not shipping until 9/28.

So I clicked the "ask an apple rep" button and asked them if they knew anything about local apple store stock.

nope, you'll have to call them

so i called the nearest apple store: sorry, sir, we don't have any and don't know when the shipment will come.

so i called the next nearest apple store... and they are closed due to rennovation or something.

what?

okay, fine, whatever, you lost an impulse buy. now that i will learn the next few weeks to learn how to live without one i may chicken out and not buy it.

hmm, i am ready to buy an ipod touch at the end of this month, but i just read on ars that you can't add events to the calendar.

well, that's a real splash of cold water. hopefully apple will change or this story will be proven false.

sent apple an email saying that i would not purchase an iphone because of this crippling feature, hopefully they will get the message.

I'm going to wait for a 16gb iPhone to get one, unless Apple starts supporting OGG or WMA file formats. I like high quality audio, and for the same amount of data I can get better out of my zune

I am still waiting for a 3G compatible iPhone. That's the main thing for me right now, since I'd mostly use it for Internet.
Wifi hotspots are sparse around here, and EDGE is just torture.
