Possibly he meant this post http://www.theologyweb.com/campus/sh...&postcount=194 You know what, it struck me as an dishonest attempt to cut off debate. Now Technomage insults people. It seems to be beyond what is called for. Wiccans, bah!

*chuckle* I share your sentiments. I previously stated how I fail to see how his "reasons" justify disengaging dialogue with Christian's whom I assume would smoke him in debate. It looks like he was oblivious to the fact that I was indirectly calling him a chicken; and ironically I am the stupid one.

Even for you this post is way more than just an angry response. I hope there is nothing in your life right now giving you reason to be so upset. Since according to you , you know everything, I must have gone off the tracks somewhere. Please enlighten me with your great wisdom so I can get my head straight.

But I suspect that is not in your plan. It is never in your plan to enlighten, but to tear down. How small you are to get pleasure in the demeaning of others. The only thing I see you educate others about is how great you are. Maybe if I get down and worship you you may throw me a bone of knowledge so I too can be as you.

The one thing my "great wisdom" has enlightened me to is that I don't waste my time with the dishonest. Ignorance is curable--even abject stupidity can be survived--but dishonesty such as yours is worthy of nothing but contempt.

Obviously it is time to leave this thread. I want to thank all those who have answered my questions. You have been a great help for me. I do believe I have a general understanding now of the nature of the pagan belief systems. Enough to know it is thoughtful and logical within itself.

I wish everyone well and have a great holiday season.

My impression of Wicca is much more poor, because of technomage's accusations of dishonesty. franktalk dishonest!?

If one says something that is not true, that may be merely a mistake. Possibly sometimes the result of 'abject stupidity.'

I could judge all of Christianity by some of the Christians I meet, if I did so then I would be called on it as over generalizing the faith based on my reaction to a particular person or persons. An that would be correct... Would you care for me to judge your faith on that basis?

I don't just know how well 'qualified' Reece is, but I can tell you that people who are everybit as qualified as he could be, do translate generation there, and in context, as meaning "race" -- the Jewish race/people.

I know that partial preterists, and many futurists too, think it could be referring to a single generation; that is, either one that has past (dead and gone) or one to come. However, an unbiased translation that's everybit as valid is, simply, race....."this race" or people-- the Jews.

The natural reading of the text shows it to fit well. But don't let this hotly contested word be the thing that makes Jesus' promises to be empty ones--Jesus as untrustworthy. Why not say something of an empty promise of treasure in Heaven made by a prophet -->who claimed to be God incarnate and the only way to God and Heaven, who died, and yet did not rise from the dead !

If he did not rise from the dead then that is what obviously--& much better too--shows him to be fraudulant. He cannot be a savior if he is dead and gone. Gone, as in rotted to dust. End of story !

Isn't that the chief blockage to belief, and not the following 1900 year long "no show" ( a lie or delusion of Jesus', therefore) ?
Here's something interesting. Early Christian appologists, sortly after 70AD, argued that Jesus has to be the Messiah ruling a heavenly kingdom because the Jews had been wiped out and replaced by converts.

They even use the verse in Revelation to support this: Behold, I will make them of the synagogue of Satan, which say they are Jews, and are not, but do lie; behold, I will make them to come and worship before thy feet, and to know that I have loved thee.

Also, all the people claiming to be Jews today, only have a common genetic marker that goes back 2000 years. It seems highly unlikely that they are the decedents of Abraham. It seems likely that the Hebrews are no more.

If the Hebrews are no more, then the prophecy is surely false.

      Got a sauce on that?

I guess that depends on what you mean by "shortly." Heck, Revelation wasn't written until 95 CE or so--25 years is a while.

Also, all the people claiming to be Jews today, only have a common genetic marker that goes back 2000 years.
That one's false--Oppenheim has traced modern ethnic Jews to the Levant. Common ancestry goes back ... eh, 48,000 years or so, IIRC.

Re: Attn: Mountain Man. Where the rubber hits the road: Wicc

Good question Darfius, I was about to ask the same thing , out of sheer curiosity. However, I know that people leave a variety of Religions for multiple reasons, typically the #1 reason is because of some kind of hurt or alienation. As for STA, No the Hebrews have not been wiped out. Leonard Nimoy, actually Leonard Cohen, is of the tribe of Levi, and is a Rabbi. Hebrews really do exist of the original tribes, I've met them and have many friends who are Jewish (not converts) you need to have some hard proof to back up your claims. The Hebrews Were Scattered After AD 70 into the Roman Empire, thus many tribal heritage, while lost still is very real. Now, Christians believed Jesus was the Messiah long before 70 AD, the earliest letters were St Paul's written to the Greek churches documenting this from Approximately 50 CE until his execution sometime between 63 and 66 CE by Nero.
