Re: Can anyone inform me on Pastor Melissa Scott?
sorry- i didn't mean to be confusing. i only have one other post on these message boards. i registered for the site and then couldn't find this thread right away so i searched for "Melissa Scott" and left my note there. here is the post to which i referred:
i have learned a great deal of the Word of God from Pastor Melissa Scott. i was incredibly disheartened when i googled the greek word "euangelisasthai" and your website, "theology.web", appeared with a very negative thread about Mrs. Scott... this negative thread documenting her past appears 2nd on the google search engine when i typed in the GOOD NEWS of the GOSPEL.
my question for all of you today is: is this what this website is meant to do? is this the message we wish to send when someone types in the GOOD NEWS? do we wish for someone to search for the GOOD NEWS and to learn of a woman's dreadful past mistakes? i am sorry to see this kind of thing. i registered here on this website to tell you this.
everyone is free to think what they will. to me, it makes very little difference where someone comes from or what they did in the past when they are preaching the Good News of the Gospel of JESUS CHRIST.
for those with ears to hear, let them hear.
GOD BLESS YOU ALL.

This is a discussion board. Not just limited to Christians - athiests, agnostices, wiccans.. it's a pretty free medium. You'll see lots of discussion and viewpoints on many issues.
Melissa Scott, for good or bad, carries some baggage. That's undeniable. I watch her occasionally, just because she's fascinating.. but.. i keep feeling like she's building up to a point, but never quite "gets there".
That, of course, is a partial quote... ending in "what the Spirit says to the Churches".for those with ears to hear, let them hear.
SureGOD BLESS YOU ALL.
you too!

Re: Can anyone inform me on Pastor Melissa Scott?
hello Country Preacher,
i'm a little confused... i'm not sure why you felt you needed to add to my writing. i write what i am inspired to write. i don't think i put any of that in quotes. (did i?)
Mrs. Scott does have many profound messages from God's Word. but no one is perfect in themselves. we all carry "baggage," and we all fall painfully short. anyway, it sounds like we aren't experiencing the program the same way. that's ok.
i didn't really understand what this website was about. i realize this is not the place for me to dwell. please accept my apologies for intruding on your discussion site. thank you.
with Love in Christ,
zoey

Zoey,
It's not my site.
not by a long shot!
If you have thin skin, this really isn't the place.
If you're full of idealism, ditto.
I apologize if you were offended by me "adding to your quote"....
i was partially kidding...
There are a lot of good people here, including some atheists I count as friends.
Why would this not be the place for you to dwell?
And, seriously, do you always talk "poetically"?

Re: Can anyone inform me on Pastor Melissa Scott?
So someone directed you to post in this thread then? I mean, you came to theologyweb expressly for looking for this thread?
err, I typed in Good news of the gospel and this thread wasn't even on the first 10 pages of results. Your results are tailored by your previous searches. Google works that way.i have learned a great deal of the Word of God from Pastor Melissa Scott. i was incredibly disheartened when i googled the greek word "euangelisasthai" and your website, "theology.web", appeared with a very negative thread about Mrs. Scott... this negative thread documenting her past appears 2nd on the google search engine when i typed in the GOOD NEWS of the GOSPEL.

I agree. What does concern me is when someone is not quite honest about his or her training and knowledge. Ms. Scott seems to be a little less than expert in the languages she claims to be expert in. But she's making a good living at it. I'll give her that.everyone is free to think what they will. to me, it makes very little difference where someone comes from or what they did in the past when they are preaching the Good News of the Gospel of JESUS CHRIST.
Indeed. Are you listening?for those with ears to hear, let them hear.
On that we can agree with out reservation.GOD BLESS YOU ALL."Yes, I'm quite concerned about health care issues surrounding leaked radiation from Japan. Now, please pass me my super sized, bacon double cheeseburger, combo meal..."

Re: Can anyone inform me on Pastor Melissa Scott?
Melissa Scott does get to the point, perhaps you don't understand it Preacher. As far as baggage you sound like the pharisse who prayed and thanked God that he wasn't a sinner like others.
As far as people thinking that Gene Scott the founding pastor was some poor dumb pauper that one day decided to open a church and ask for money is ridiculos. The man had earned his money before he ever became president of the AOG.
So far you critisized they way most people word thier thoughts on this post then say something cute like"just askin" while you didn't even use a question mark.
Melissa Scott needs no defense she's doing what she believes God called her to do.
If your a preacher then you may have an understanding of what that means. If your not preaching Christ then your not a minister of His.
Are you a real preacher?

Melissa Scott, in my experience, does not get to the point. She rambles and rambles.

Hey ALAN!!! I was REALLY bored, so I thought I'd address your post in a little more detail..... So, hang on...
First, if you're going to accuse somebody of something, at least spell it correctly.
just sayin' (the rules don't apply to me because i'm just sayin'!
)
No clue what you're talking about here, but, yeah, ridiculos (sic). As far as people thinking that Gene Scott the founding pastor was some poor dumb pauper that one day decided to open a church and ask for money is ridiculos. The man had earned his money before he ever became president of the AOG.
Again, if you're going to sound all high and mighty and "critisize" (sic) you might want to use spell checker. And, I didn't use a question mark because...So far you critisized they way most people word thier thoughts on this post then say something cute like"just askin" while you didn't even use a question mark.
A) I didn't wanna
2) I don't hafta
3) I wasn't asking anything.. I was just sayin' "just askin'"
D) I wasn't trying to sound all high and mighty
5) And I don't criticize "most people" - just the ones who try to come off as high and mighty
So..... if she needs no defense.. you're writing this because????? (extra question marks)Melissa Scott needs no defense she's doing what she believes God called her to do.
Again, Alan, if you're going to attack somebody, please use proper English..If your a preacher then you may have an understanding of what that means. If your not preaching Christ then your not a minister of His.
"you're a preacher" - not "your a preacher" and
"you're not preaching" not "your not preaching"...
the contraction "you're" stands for "you are" - "your" is a ... well.. enough English for today.
(TOLD you I was bored)
You're NOT getting your writing skills from Melisa Scott, are you?
Probably not, because she's quite eloquent. And ... cute!
well, that's debatable, Alan... sometimes i think so, but you'd have to ask my congregation. Are you a real preacher?
I'm a real preacher IRL, but here, I'm usually just a nut.
Now THAT'S the most intelligent thing you've said in this post!!! (but you didn't use a question mark, buddy)"just askin'

Well... two things, Alan...
1) glad I didn't disappoint you
B) you're simply not smart enough to call somebody a pharisse (sic)
If you throw somebody a hand grenade, Alan, don't expect a klondike bar in return.
I'm just sayin'
Now, if you'd like to have an intelligent discussion, please let me know what it was that I said that causes you to assume I'm a pharisse
That's a pretty serious charge, so you need to be able to prove it.
Or, are you just a name-callin' kinda guy?

Calvinism and Universalism are mutually exclusive though. You really can't be one and be the other at the same time.

Re: Can anyone inform me on Pastor Melissa Scott?
(whew! found my way back to the proper thread...)
(:B --> my bucktoothed grin )
Hello. yes, i do "hear" you. yes, i do write what i am inspired to write, and yes, often it is in prayer or poetic form.
regarding Mrs. Scott, i can only state the fact that her sermons speak to my heart. in my humble opinion, the messages are directly from God's word, and they do resonate for me.
regarding the "google search", when i searched google for "euangelisasthai" (the english pronunciation of greek for Good News of the Gospel" = εὐαγγελίσασθαί ) this thread we are writing on currently came up in the first few search results.
yes, it's true- this could be due to a personal search pattern history. but the fact that it came up on the first few search results is just a fact from my end.
it made me upset to read all the negative things people have said here about Melissa Scott, especially when i came in search of more information about the Good News.
i have never been here and did not know until the Country Preacher informed me about the "debating" nature of this site. (thank you Country Preacher). i do not intend to dwell here to debate anything with anyone. that is why i said this website is not the right place for me to "dwell". (i was inspired to speak up, and also to speak again today to respond to your feedback)
i do understand and appreciate the fact that everyone is free to choose their own doctrine and teacher. that is a beautiful part of spirituality. if you don't get Mrs. Scott, then you just don't. that's ok. clearly, her sermons are not for everyone.
but all the other stuff - all the mean spirited judgement - is really unnecessary. (don't you agree?)
i remain yours, in Christ.
may you all be blessed indeed.
