Re: Is it God's job ... ?
If so, it's a part-time job.
No:
- To be legalistic - if it were God's duty (job) or responsibility (job) to make us feel good, that would be declared in the agreement of mutual obligation which is the Covenant, OT or NT.
. - I am human and whole, with a great range and richness of emotions and feelings, and with the ability and propensity to feel good and likewise to feel bad. (I am glad of this full range and full richness, for it makes life a plenitude, makes even unpleasantness and discomfort a feast.) If we are God-designed, this range and richness, likewise these abilities and propensities, are an intentional part of our humanity, not an aberration or defect to be corrected by restricting feeling to feeling only good.

Re: Is it God's job ... ?
Is it God's job to make us feel good? Does God owe us a happy life? No. God doesn't "owe" His creation anything. He asks us to give over our lives to Him, though. This request of His seems to be met with horrible protest by so many. Funny, though, and amazing, the way it turns out -- when we finally give it up and give it over to Him, we do feel good. We do feel happiness. Why? Because we're with Him. Jesus said it all when he said "come to me, you who are weary...."

Re: Is it God's job ... ?
No.
Without true sorrow and pain, we would not enjoy the immeasurable happiness available in Christ. A happiness that does NOT come from one's surroundings, that is, a good and comfortable life. Many who are rich and can have everything are miserable and suicidal, and many starved and beaten in prison sing praise songs with joy. Happiness stems from within, from the core of your being when you are most satisfied with what you have, and with a thankful heart, and live your life as you find most honorable.
As Piper said, God is most glorified in me when I am most satisfied in him. And when we ARE most satisfied in Him, we can bare any burden with hope, and die with a smile. We can find solace in misery, we can find hope in suffering, we can find joy in sorrow, we can find love with enemies, we can bring comfort to those in pain, we can do ALL things in Christ who strengthens us (Philippians 4:13).
God does not owe us a good life, nor promised to force one upon us. But he has made available a means by which to have a happy life, under any circumstance, in Him.
