December 2007 Screwballs
Since my presence here on weekends is sometimes iffy, I'm opening this thread now. Please wait until tomorrow to use it.
Also, please offer comments in the discussion on Platinum nomination categories if you can.

Due to rampant stupidity by Skeptics, and time issues, I'm only going to be on TWeb in my own (tektonics.org) section from now on. Deal with it.

The Pearls of NGJ ministries prove once again that just because you have Bible, rings on your fingers, functioning sex-organs, and kids that haven't yet killed themselves or anyone else, it doesn't mean you should be considered an expert on parenting and relationships:
Debbie, on the subject of spousal abuse and divorce:

They should start selling a "Jesus is my hitman" T-shirt.
Michael then adds his thoughts:

Re: December 2007 Screwballs
"Years ago, I mean decades ago, I read a quote about politicians performing quid pro quo favors for campaign cash, and whether or not we could prove it. The guy who was quoted opined that it was difficult to determine. He noted that in many cases, the payoff might not take the form of votes on legislative action -- those might be detectable, and so are avoided -- but could take subtler forms, like the question that is never asked at a hearing.
The media's doing a terrific job of not asking questions it doesn't want to know the answer to. It doesn't ask these questions in bulk, and the great volume of questions it doesn't ask makes it cheap to not ask questions.
And it passes these savings on to you, the customer." Ace

Re: December 2007 Screwballs
Ah, yes, the effects of a sinful nature can really be wonderfully (appalling) sometimes...
Don't mean to argument against you, Sir Thinkie
, but to think that some grown-up men live for being aroused by children...
It's just... well... appalling!
People aren't moral and rational because some sort of religion or atheism has automatically put that moral or rational thinking in them; people are moral and rational because they are the image of a loving and wise God.

Screwball nomination for Carpedm9587 participating in the Insult your enemy? discussion. Starting with post #169, he gleefully latched onto and propagated a comparison that likened JP's debate tactics to the overt hate speech of Fred "God Hates Fags" Phelps while hypocritically maintaining that he himself is above using insults in the course of a debate.

Re: December 2007 Screwballs
I looked at the site yesterday to get a reference. That was enough.
Matt Green wins yet again for this:
Originally for December I had planned on putting an in-depth rebuttal on Holding's "The Impossible Faith" but I have had to postpone this project for some time. I was hoping to deliver it as a Christmas present to the Holdings as well as his followers.
Like he thinks Mrs H would care? News flash, Mattchu....Mrs H would tear your head off...in the physical as well as the brains department!
Right, Nick?
Also, as to why he now calls me Holding and not "Hominid":
A second reason is simple curiosity. I am curious as to what will happen if I decide to use his legal name? Will he start taking my blog posts seriously? Will he take me out of Tektoonics and start treating me more seriously?
Uh, no....as if that were the reason he's on tektoonics and not Tekton....he has a valentine for everyone here, too: (he also whines about Dee Dee's unfair moderation practices).
That reminds me -- some of you are falling behind on the guru-glorification and need to pony up!I have been wrestling with the question of whether or not I should respond to Holding. Honestly, I see very little point to it. I don't go to "Theology Web" to engage Mr. Holding because I see little point to that as well. Mr. Holding will never go to the Internet Infidels Discussion Board, which is where I would definitely go if I was to debate him. But he only debates at "TWeb" because that is where his adoring fans are and they stroke his ego, arrogantly mock the victims of Holding's derisive attacks, and bathe him with guru-glorification.

Re: December 2007 Screwballs
It's funny how it's the stupidest people who object most often to be calling stupid....

Reader sends:
This guy on YouTube, by the name of kauaikit sent me this response when I mentioned the word "apologetics"
"So what is the meaning of the word apology?
1.a written or spoken expression of one's regret, remorse, or sorrow for having insulted, failed, injured, or wronged another"
I think this guy seriously needs a screwball award.
