You can change what veggies you add to it - whatever you feel like - so it doesn't get monotonous.
YAK! Ramen is cheap because it is heavy in saturated fats. There must be more cost and health effective ways to make noodles than that!

They're usually cheaper down here - a lot cheaper.
"He is no fool who gives what he cannot keep to gain what he cannot lose." - Jim Elliot

      Matthew 8:26-27

He replied, "You of little faith, why are you so afraid?" Then He got up and rebuked the winds and the waves, and it was completely calm.
The men were amazed and asked, "What kind of man is this this? Even the wind and the waves obey Him!"

Angel hair spaghetti will do just as well and takes only a minute or two more (literally) to cook. Just doesn't nuke as easily but you can do that, too.

Forget the hippy junk, ramen is just nasty, period. I'd rather eat sawdust.
"Years ago, I mean decades ago, I read a quote about politicians performing quid pro quo favors for campaign cash, and whether or not we could prove it. The guy who was quoted opined that it was difficult to determine. He noted that in many cases, the payoff might not take the form of votes on legislative action -- those might be detectable, and so are avoided -- but could take subtler forms, like the question that is never asked at a hearing.

The media's doing a terrific job of not asking questions it doesn't want to know the answer to. It doesn't ask these questions in bulk, and the great volume of questions it doesn't ask makes it cheap to not ask questions.

And it passes these savings on to you, the customer." Ace

While it isn't cheaper, you can get whole wheat spaghetti, where a serving is getting you 4 to 5 grams of fiber... the fiber helps fill the person up quicker.

Oh and Oatmeal! That's probably a cheaper alternative, also good for you. Not the instant box stuff as much as the canister of the oats. Sugar and cinnamon... walnuts and dried cranberries... lots of options.
