Re: December 2007 Screwballs
Here's a PM from Sparko:
I will not debate Holding at Tweb. It's not a fair place to debate and that's the reason why. It's filled with hypocrites and hyenas, and as such it's not good for me to be here for very long at all.DJ, what the hell are you talking about? There is no privacy violation I can see.

Re: December 2007 Screwballs
so you do exactly what you accused others of doing? Posting my PM to you?
I could care less but it shows what a hypocrite you are, and gives me an opportunity to point out how stupid you are..
You sent me a PM entitled "Privacy Violation By Rayado" and just put this in the message:
So I click on the link and I see the same post you pasted above and I look for some privacy violation. I see nothing. He is just talking about some PM you sent Nick.
oh wait, Now I see it. he did post your PM. But it was not clear by what you posted. i couldnt even tell who was saying what.
in the link it was edited out. in the cut and paste text you made it look like YOU were the one posting the PM. sheesh. what a dork.
If you wanted to report a real violation, at least you could give a discription of what the problem was. But no. You are too stupid for that.
Now go scurry off to your little blog.

ONLY the debaters are allowed to post in a debate thread here!
NEVER have I seen a debate here be treated unfairly by anybody on Tweb. There are atheists here too, you know. But I'm sure you just don't want to argue because you know you'll be beaten, like you are every single time you attempt it.

Re: December 2007 Screwballs
He is a complete hypocrite.
He got in trouble for using JPH's real name (before he changed it) and then he decided he wanted to keep his name private, so we agree. What does he do? He posts links to his book and blog with his real name on it. He violated his own request! So we deny him the right to keep his name private.
Now he complains that people are wrong for posting his PMs, so what does he do? He posts someone else's PMs. Mine. I didnt even have a dog in this fight till now.
He is a lying, pathlogical, self-deluded piece of garbage. Maybe he will "notice" that one day.

Re: December 2007 Screwballs
These are my thoughts on the deal with Vance. (I think the other incident today is well taken care of and what LA has said has been on my mind all day.)
I am one of the people that knows JPH well. I was at his house in Florida earlier this year. I'd say he let me stay during a friend's wedding when I was a groomsman with "no questions asked" but there were questions asked. Questions along the lines of "How can we best accomodate you?" The whole time I was there, I felt like I had the red carpet rolled out for me and was a guest of honor. (And my thanks for JPH introducing me to Inviga)
In fact, JPH and I did discuss our differences very briefly. We talked over breakfast one day about how Christians divide over views such as the age of the Earth and JPH knows that I disagree with him on that and I think he's wrong. He does the same with me. I don't really care. It's not a fundamental issue and the people that walk away from the faith because they're convinced the Earth is old are those that made a secondary a primary.
When JPH taught his Sunday School class, I was there. He's just as hard-hitting there as he is on here. I saw no contradiction between how he acts in person and how he acts on here. I was honored to be a part in his lesson on the Canaanite conquest. JPH handled the biblical data, but I got to talk with some of the members of the class afterwards on how this relates to the so-called problem of evil and it was completely fascinating.
Here's something I've learned from when apologetics is really taught. People listen. I preached a sermon at a small church in KY. When I say small, I mean small. We're talking it'd be amazing if 20 people came through the door. I preached on Genesis 22 and how in the end, there was no one when Christ was on the cross who said "YHWH, YHWH, hold back your hand." (A line from Glenn Miller.) When I finished, there was silence. That's not usually a good sign for a preacher. You wonder if you violated some social taboo. Instead, the worship leader said "I don't think we can add anything to that. Let's be dismissed."
In another sermon I did, which I have on MP3, I hit the church, which was my old church before I moved, right between the eyes and said the church today has got lazy and we need to be rising up to take the charge of Christ. My Sunday School teacher told me about a year later how excited he was during that sermon. I asked then "What did you do with it?" He replied, "Well, that's why I'm a Sunday School teacher now."
JPH was entirely gracious though. When I needed to be taken around Florida, he took me. He picked me up when the wedding was over and made sure I had a place to sleep at night and good food and drinks to last me. He even watched an episode of Smallville with me and we watched UHF as well as singing Weird Al while riding in his car.
Now you tell me to be nice. Generally, I agree. I'd prefer pleasant conversation first any time. Rayado and I had a friend I work with come over last night and we had a great conversation. This guy is a non-Christian, but we spent an hour and a half or so in discussion answering questions, most of which I'd say we'd never really encountered before. That's the way I wish it was.
The bad news is though, a lot of people are not like that. They are openly antagonistic to religion. Peace talks will not work. Let's give peace a chance. Sure. But when peace doesn't work, then it's time to take up the sword. Remember Ephesians 6? Remember 2 Cor. 10? These are pictures of war. Remember Matthew 18? The gates of Hell will not stand against the church. Gates are defensive.
Why is the church lacking today? Because they dropped the ball so long ago. Today, the church is focused on internal experiences. Before dealing with a skeptic, I believe they generally think that I believe God speaks to me on a regular basis and I am in ministry because this is what I feel led to do or because God called me. (I mean a specific call also.)
Today, I do study. I do work hard. I am at the SES library getting books on a regular basis. Amazon knows me well from ordering so many. Talk to Rayado sometime about the bookcases that I have in here. That takes hard work and time. My money is usually tight still and I don't know how I'll pay for things honestly, but I'm going to keep working and putting forth the effort because I want to know so many things.
What saddens me is that my parents and grandmother come to me with questions about the Bible. Why is that sad? Because it should be reverse. I should be the one coming to the older generation that has studied far more, or should have. You know why militant atheists are rising today? Because Christians left a wide open gap for them to come in on. What you are seeing today is the result of Christians dropping the ball along time ago.
Be nice? Believe it or not, I've rolled out the carpet on here before for DJ. He has had ample opportunity to come clean and repent. I'd rejoice if it happened. I really would. There is a simple problem though. I honestly believe that he's trying to justify himself instead of letting God be the one to justify him. Rather than face a divine judge, it's best to simply obliterate the divine judge.
Now I'm not the same kind of personality type JPH is, but that's a good thing. We need many different ones in the body of Christ. There are people that need a JPH to slam them with a two by four right between the eyes. There are people that respond to an approach like mine also and that is how we work together. JPH sends some of his emailers my way if it's a question more along my bent and I refer several people who come to me to his website. That is the way it works. We both know it's a big ocean of apologetics and we can't master everything.
I'd honestly say to step back because I think your emotion is driving you in many ways. I don't heed what is said about JPH any more really because of that unique fact. I know him. I count him as a friend and I'm glad to do so. JPH was a supporter of me in an age where sadly the church does not care for Christian apologists to speak. It is a rare rare rare rare occasion when I get a speaking job. JPH has let me have my stuff on his website though, and it is an honor.
Now I might be slow in responding. I am going to be busy the next few days, especially with my debate with Jackie Fox which I hope people here check out. Just really, step back and see the big picture. There is a war going on, and we can't afford to be weak in it.

Re: December 2007 Screwballs
This is all so wonderful; thank you.
Seriously; you have lost your way. Your juvenile mocking mentality will hobble your ministry's effectiveness until you give it up. You and the DJs and Jimbos of the apostate world deserve to be locked into this POINTLESS death-to-the-other match. You enjoy it, as a sport. You're a snob--even an art snob ! ...and a crass ruffian, and sorely lack even common humility. You go after Christian writers for the reason that they aren't yet doctoral level, only Master's (from the seminary they do attend). What hypocrisy ! You haven't their training at all and still you pull this prideful stunt. You formally give Josh McDowell:
Petty...jealousy !
Take this disgraceful cartoonish mess to some steel cage. Get down in the dirt and fight like the ungodly do, there. Keep your wrestlers fired well the hell up and hungry
to tag in when you are elsewhere, off-line, doing something worthwhile. Now, insult away ! You love it. It comes naturally.
Your's truly,

In my opinion, the single most telling piece of evidence that shows how poorly we're manifesting our call to care for animals is the recent creation of factory farms. Over the last century we have, to a large degree, reduced farm animals to commercialized commodities whose only value is found in how efficiently we can produce and slaughter them for profit. Consequently, more than 26 billion animals each year are forced to live in miserable, overcrowded warehouses, where there is absolutely nothing natural about their existence and where they are subjected to barbaric, painful, industrial procedures.
This is a far cry from what God meant when he told us to exercise "dominion." (Pastor Greg Boyd.)

Re: December 2007 Screwballs
I have a brilliant idea!
Let's fight FIRE with FIRE to shame our opponent into realizing his mistake!
DOH"If fighting is sure to result in victory then you must fight!" Sun Tsu said that, and I'd say he knows a little more about fighting than you do pal because he invented it! And then he perfected it so that no living man can best him on the ring of honor! Then he used his fight money to buy two of every animal on earth, and then he herded them onto a boat, and then he BEAT THE CRAP OUT OF EVERY SINGLE ONE! Ehehehehehehehehehe. And from that day forward anytime a bunch of animals are together in one place it's called a 'zoo!' Unless it's a farm!

Re: December 2007 Screwballs
My experience is that the approach NEVER WORKS. Basically the response you get goes like "It seems that you are trying to insult me, I think. So I am going to sit back and see where it gets you."
