If that is the case, then presenting it like that is highly irresponsible. She no more said 'axed' than someone from Kansas said 'un' instead of 'and'.
no, it is pretty clear when someone says "Axed" instead of "ASKed" - it is not a mistake like a non-native english speaker might make. Your English is great by the way, but if you made a pronunciation mistake, we would know it was because you are not a native english speaker. This woman is. She is head of the teacher's union. She should know how to say "asked" and should speak proper english, not some ebonics crap.

And she would not have WROTE "axed" either, hopefully in writing, the woman would have written "asked" - if not then things are worse than feared.

Actually this comes off as mildly weird to me. So do you then agree that saying 'un' would be a mispronunciation as well, and that the person saying that, should have said 'and' instead?

who says un for and? they might say an', like in, "I went to thuh store an' then went home." but that is quite a bit different than saying "axed" for "asked" and a teacher should know better. Especially speaking in public.

Yeah I don't think that would pass any modern English test. It looks worse than one of Cow Poke's posts.

It's pretty simple. The district is expected to run out of money July 1st. Teachers are concerned they won't get paid for summer school or misc special programs.
                          I'm not here anymore.

I searched out the link first thing, but don't want to harp on it, as it's hard to see it as anything more than race-baiting. If you listen carefully to the audio, yes, she does, just barely, say "ask" in a form that sounds a bit more like "axe," but it's subtle.

                            Unless you're a racist.

KcmoPost covers news commentary, satire and consumer advice, relevant to Kansas City MO or the country. Collect our political art:tease a friend.

The image is enough to show this is where CP found the story. How CP happened to run across that obscure blog is anyone's guess, but there's no foul in claiming the emphasis on "axe" vs. "ask" is racist. I will say it's obvious why he didn't bother linking it.

The first law of grammar criticism. Violated.

And especially inappropriate from anyone who peppers their posts with "done-ifying" and "y'all."
