It would be even better if you wore a "What would Grissom do?" t-shirt.
Some may call me foolish - some may call me odd

Than a fool in the eyes of God

Then Morgoth turned upon Húrin, and he said: 'Fool, little among Men, and they are the least of all that speak! Have you seen the Valar, or measured the power of Manwë and Varda?
Do you know the reach of their thought? Or do you think, perhaps, that their thought is upon you, and that they may shield you from afar?'
'I know not,' said Húrin. 'Yet so it might be, if they willed. For the Elder King shall not be dethroned while Arda endures.'

Respond to every question by speaking in tongues. Persuade one of the other potential jurors to 'interpret' everything you say as apocalyptic warnings of doom.
"If God has given [his people] such joy now, joy in their faith, in their hope, in love, in the truth of his scriptures, what kind of joy is he preparing for them at the end? If he feeds them like this on the journey, how will he feast them in their homeland?"--Augustine of Hippo

Re: My Jury Duty Rant
I had to go to jury duty last year. They released me from it the first day because the people decided to settle out of court.
Maybe you'll get some good luck and have that happen to you.

Re: My Jury Duty Rant
If we allow large numbers of crime-prone people into our communities, then we are faced with a choice: Either protect the citizenry by ruling with an iron fist or permit the criminals to operate freely and allow death and mayhem to prevail. If we take the latter choice, we send the message that crime is tolerated in our communities – and the violence will eventually spiral out of control. If we take the former choice, we will lose civil liberties. The only way to avoid this Morton’s Fork scenario is to prevent crime-prone demographics from entering our communities in the first place. This would be a sensible immigration policy.

Re: My Jury Duty Rant
I had jury duty back in December, which involved two days of sitting around and doing nothing before they let me go for the rest of the week. I didn't mind being released early, but at the same time, as long as they were using up my time, it would have been nice to go through the process of being a juror to see what it's like.

Re: My Jury Duty Rant
Jury duty is one thing. Grand jury duty is another. One of my co-workers got selected to be on a grand jury. He was at it most Tuesdays and Wednesdays for over a year.

Re: My Jury Duty Rant
Well, I got tagged. Monday will be a waste day for much of what I need to do ministry-wise. Good thing I can read there and post online or it'd be a total loss.
Better get my "GUILTY" T-shirt made...

Due to rampant stupidity by Skeptics, and time issues, I'm only going to be on TWeb in my own (tektonics.org) section from now on. Deal with it.

When you're deliberating with the other jurors and someone argues a point, answer "That argument uses logic. Logic leads into error, which proves my point, that logic leads into error."

Also, write an essay against the defendant before the trial (you can have an insert-defendant's-name-here version). Then, during deliberation, casually remark "So, I just noticed this essay here..."
And of course, appeal to Wikipedia.

That t-shirt sounds like a good i-dee
Also, don't you just love that huge stipend they give you? What is it, $8 per day? Ridiculous. The whole thing is a complete waste of time, but if you don't show up, the law will hunt you down like the criminal you are and, well, i don't know what happens next but i do know they are serious about you doing your civic duty. I've been called 5 times now, and, iirc, i only got seated as a juror on ONE case. And i do remember that case. The guy looked guilty. He was accused of having taken indecent liberties with a minor, the sicko. [warning: slight sarcasm ahead] I wanted him to fry and i mean i wanted the street lights to dim when it happened! But the case was dropped on a technicality made by the prosecuting attorney. Aww heck! See? What a waste of time.

Re: My Jury Duty Rant
With the people we have today, I feel sorry for any butlers involved in murder cases.
"Years ago, I mean decades ago, I read a quote about politicians performing quid pro quo favors for campaign cash, and whether or not we could prove it. The guy who was quoted opined that it was difficult to determine. He noted that in many cases, the payoff might not take the form of votes on legislative action -- those might be detectable, and so are avoided -- but could take subtler forms, like the question that is never asked at a hearing.
The media's doing a terrific job of not asking questions it doesn't want to know the answer to. It doesn't ask these questions in bulk, and the great volume of questions it doesn't ask makes it cheap to not ask questions.
And it passes these savings on to you, the customer." Ace

It'd be even funnier if William Lane Craig was also on the jury.
