This is an open forum area for all members for discussions on all issues of science and origins. This area will and does get volatile at times, but we ask that it be kept to a dull roar, and moderators will intervene to keep the peace if necessary. If you are traveling at 30 miles per hour while holding your 10-pound baby, and have a motor vehicle crash, the baby would be pulled from your arms with an accelerated force of almost 300 pounds and be thrown into the dashboard or windshield.

That's why babies are supposed to be in a car seat! Now I'm wondering what would happen if Clark Kent did that in a fictional story? Of course, physics don't really apply in superhero fiction, but everyone in those stories seem to be immune to g-forces!

Physics and superheroes don't exactly mix.

I'm always still in trouble again

Of course not! Are there any action movies that actually pay attention to physics? Because action movies in general seem to ignore physics when it would mess with the plot. Movies in general, like Home Alone(those burglars should have died), seem to clearly not take place in our world.

          Wouldn't that be acceleration/deceleration?

Except for that time when Spider-Man tried to save his girlfriend Gwen Stacy from falling. The sudden deceleration killed her. Physics tends to work for Spidey at all the wrong times...

He apparently learns to compensate for that later in the comics*.

*Specifically mentioned in an issue of Superior Spider-Man, the finale I believe.

Superman and Batman never seem to have a problem with that

Or just acceleration with different vectors and signs.
