      Help me Season Stuff:

I'm trying to cook healthy, but I need help with seasoning stuff. Especially veggies. So every now and then I'll put up a new idea, and trust you guys at Tweb to tell me how to spice it up yummy-style!

So far I did green beans with garlic powder. YUM!
And corn with garlic powder, oregano, thyme, black pepper, and a little sale. YUM!

Today's veggie is broccoli. What do you suggest? (PS - suggestions for other ways to fix the above 2 veggies are also appreciated, as I shall make them again in the not-so-distant future)
      Here I am!

Broccoli is great by itself, but if you must season it, I recommend a lake of cheese sauce!!

I'm weird. I like broccoli just the way it is. I steam it and eat it plain.

      Same with corn.

When you try carrots next, though, the tiniest bit of cinnamon and ginger goes well with them, and a bit of orange peel if you have that.

Oh, I love broccoli by itself, but I'm trying to get where my diet is consistent. Which means eating this stuff way more than I'm used to, and I want to keep it interesting.

No cheese sauce, though. I want healthy!

Ok, today's combination was broccoli with some old bay, coarse black pepper, garlic powder, and a little salt. Not bad.

I would certainly add butter. Some Cauliflower would be nice, they taste similar but have slightly different health benefits. You could even add shrooms, but I don't like them, maybe you do?

I'm thinking, beyond that, it might be fun to try flavoring it with lemon, or with orange, or sautéed Chinese sauces and spices.

I also have been known to add bacon to it.

      Re: Help me Season Stuff:

      Oh, now that sounds good!

Also, another note. I think I'm heavy-handed, so will have to work on that. The broccoli I was eating tasted really good at first, but by the end of the bowl it was just too strong. And I know with some of those spices(like Old Bay), the heat kind of accumulates and sneaks up on you. That's ok. It was still good, and it's a learning experience.

      Shopping list:
      lemon zest
      fresh pepper(and a pepper grinder)
      orange peel

      Sweet!
      Here I am!

I like green beans and broccoli done the same way.

      And asparagus.

Steam until still just a little bit underdone, then throw with a little bit of butter, you don't need much, in a frying pan. Add some whole or slivered almonds. You can toss the almonds in the butter first to toast them a little.

Carrots are good the same way, only leave out the almonds and add just a pinch of brown sugar.

You don't have to buy orange peel or lemon special--I never do. Before you eat an orange or use a lemon for something else, just grate the surface of the fruit taking off the colored part. You can dry it on a piece of wax paper or a plate and toss it in a small jar for when you want to use it.
