And a Christian on a mission to the lost in bars would not be wise to go alone.

I went to a basketball game at a Catholic high school and they were selling beer at the concession stand. And also they have Catholic "picnics" where people go to eat, play games (like gambling! I won $30 and a Cheesecake!) and they sell beer there too. Does that count?

I think it depends on the bar and the reason you are going there. Almost every restaurant has a bar nowadays. Does that mean you can't go into an Old Chicago?

Also he mentioned nightclubs. I don't see anything wrong with going into a nightclub to have a bit of fun, dancing and such. Again it depends on the club. Some are places I would not dare enter, Christian or not. And definitely not strip clubs.

You know that's not how society worked in those days. He did, however, eat with them - which was looked upon by the Pharisees as no less worse than some Christians today view going to bars.
Yes, and I can think of one or two famous ones whose lives were ruined by it.
It should only be done with discernment.
Jesus did not adopt the methods, habits or customs of the sinners to whom He ministered. He called them to repentance - he told them to "sin no more".
    I agree.
This notion that He "hung out with" sinners is, in my opinion, both wrong and dangerous.
    It's biblical.
Enter the Church and wash away your sins. For here there is a hospital and not a court of law. Do not be ashamed to enter the Church; be ashamed when you sin, but not when you repent. St. John Chrysostom

Where did Jesus go to spend time with the tax collectors and sinners? to their homes?

That's true. That might associate bars and nightclubs with drunkenness if they were getting drunk in those places before they became believers.

Hopefully, the music in those places would change.
