This was quite a while ago, but I read an article on Islamic polemic site Answering-Christianity.com that I just had to write to the webmaster about (http://www.answering-christianity.co...arital_sex.htm). According to him, the Bible breeds pornography and is responsible for all Americans immorality. o_O

He scares me. If you read nothing else, read the final message he sent.

Me: You do realize that you gave absolutely no backing that all Americans are Christians? And the fact of the matter is, you can't prove that Christianity is false simply because the majority of people in a country that CLAIMS to be a "Christian" country disobey it?

It is quite obvious that where ever there are Christian-dominated societies, there is always a great deal of illegal sex, boyfriend-girlfriend sexual relationships, bikinis, mini-skirts and other sexually arousing clothes, lust, pornography (on the internet and on TV), homosexuality, sodomy, drugs, alcohol, bastard children (children born out of wedlock), and so on....

And in Islamic-dominated societies, there is a great deal of religious fundamentalism, violence, and women being beaten and killed for showing an inch of skin. Shall I take this as conclusive proof that Islam is false, then?

You can bet your bottom dollar that these are the natural results and outcomes that the Christian societies breed. But why are they always like that? Why do they strive and thrive on being whores? The answer again lies in their gospel of porn, the book of women's vaginas and breasts literally taste like "wine". Have they not gotten confusing teachings and explicit pornography from their bible, they would've been much better.

Are you really so dense that you think that people get their immoral ideas from the Bible? You do realize that the majority of Westerners who engage in such acts do not even know what's in the Bible, don't you? Your faulty logic shows that you have no idea that America is not a Christian nation, even if there are a great deal of people calling themselves Christians there. Anyway, you seem to think that every American who goes out and engages in promiscuity got the idea from Song of Songs. Acknowledging the fact that even though the Bible says that sex is a great thing and is to be enjoyed and loved (hence the whole "better than wine" thing), it demands that it occurs in the covenant of marriage. Now, even if Americans were getting their ideas from the Bible, it would only show their misuse of those ideas.

Would you take it as proof that Islam was false because some Islamic sects have blatantly gone against fundamental teachings of Islam, such as the Bahai?

Christians are lost because they have no Truth to follow; only men's books. Islam is the real solution to their immoralities and problems.

Would you like to show me how Americans having sex means that Christians are lying?

Therefore, embrace Islam and you will be saved!

Okay, so let's see how this argument goes.

In fact, I think that American Christianity is watered-down and change to suit the tastes of the people who want to practise it. I for one don't believe that the United States is really acting in the will of God, and Jesus said in Matthew 7 that there will be many who call him Lord on the Day of Judgment, but that he will tell them that he never knew them.

As for the pornography allegation, you're just taking passages which speak positively of eros love and of intercourse, and claiming that it means that the Bible advocates immorality. Tell me then, why did nothing on the scale of America's sexual sin happen in the sexually-restricted societies of Israel and Judah, which Song of Songs was written for, where a man had to be 30 years old to be considered ready to read it, and marriage was the only place for sexual activity? The amount of sin in America says something bad about America, not about Christianity. The reason that they have no clear guidance is because most Americans don't derive their guidance from God at all, not because they follow the Bible. Most Americans who call themselves Christians probably wouldn't even know what Song of Songs was. You have no logical reasons for your conclusions, and your arguments are full of sweeping generalizations.

Once again, you twist my words to suit your own means. Did the prophets not condemn and abhor these acts? It was made extremely clear that YHWH was disgusted by the prostitution and sexual immorality that occured during the periods of time that these books were written when Israel fell into apostasy. But that doesn't change the fact that the accepted and enforced way of acting was that courtship was not to include sexual contact and that it was only in the covenant of marriage that intercourse should occur.
