Vote for LostSheep for January Alumnus!

I'd like to put LostSheep on the ballot for President of the United States, but since it's too late for that (fundraising difficulties and all), I've decided to start him at the grassroots level. LostSheep is an omnicompetent genius who hasn't let his stellar qualities go to his head. He could have let his cerebral loftiness carry him far away from the fellowship of the little people like you and me--but he didn't! He'll be there for us. He'll see to it that we get the free universal therapy we couldn't ever have afforded otherwise; he's got a comprehensive shoutbox therapy plan and won't be overcome by payoffs from the insurance companies or red tape or congressional gridlock. He won't invade other theology sites without provocation. Even though he's a Calvinist, I know he'll treat Arminians right. Vote for LostSheep. He's one of us. Your life just might depend on it!

You make a persuasive case. He'll undoubtedly have my vote, but first I'd like to see the range of options.
"If God has given [his people] such joy now, joy in their faith, in their hope, in love, in the truth of his scriptures, what kind of joy is he preparing for them at the end? If he feeds them like this on the journey, how will he feast them in their homeland?"
      --Augustine of Hippo

"It cannot be that the people should grow in grace unless they give themselves to reading. A reading people will always be a knowing people."
      --John Wesley

"Wherever men are still theological there is still some chance of their being logical."

Re: Vote for LostSheep for January Alumnus!

Just yesterday, I was having an early brunch in Iowa with Huckabee, Obama, and Mononoke. We were consulting together over how best to conduct our respective campaigns over chad-roe (yes---"chad") jello bites and caviare and Mononoke's proverbial kool-aide. Everyone acknowledged (or---might have acknowledged if they'd been actually given the chance) that my advice had been instrumental in their almost assured victories. We had a toast, and everone waxed thoughtful. Then the conversation turned to LostSheep. The mood shifted to one of reverence and much deserved awe. LostSheep is rather like one of Plato's philosopher-kings in that he who has no ambition to rule (because of his own inner balance, among other factors) would of course make the finest ruler. In a word, such exalted beings must be compelled to rule, in a manner of speaking. We all were in agreement about this, in fact. Huckabee and Obama have, rumor has it, decided to join TWeb incognito just to cast their votes---and, get this---Senator Clinton is, I've heard (though I could be mistaken) decided to participate incognita. Now, that's real power---basking in the mutual admiration of foes---without even trying or being trying to anyone.

The depth of this man! To be involved with this enterprise is, no doubt, the very apex of our lives! Don't miss this rare opportunity to be a part of something really extraordinary, folks! Vote LS2 today!!!!

disclaimer: Nobody's approved this message, either. But VOTE. This bit of fiction is not truer than fiction, but it does have merits of its own---for the discerning of heart and mind....

If I can only contribute to LostSheep's election, my legacy here on TWeb will be assured and I can then retire in peace....

If LS2 wins, we need to get some feedback about where to build his AOTM memorial library, as well as what items to include, etc, etc. All suggestions appreciated....

It's a fine dish, and it's FDA approved.

Everything's down to the wire now. We're on the verge of culinary madness.

In search of peanut butter worms,

Don't let this happen to you. Vote Mutton---January 2008---before it's too late....

Re: Vote for LostSheep for January Alumnus!

...how to vote for Mr. LS ? I am not too smart; can you give a link, here, LPoSD ?

In my opinion, the single most telling piece of evidence that shows how poorly we're manifesting our call to care for animals is the recent creation of factory farms. Over the last century we have, to a large degree, reduced farm animals to commercialized commodities whose only value is found in how efficiently we can produce and slaughter them for profit. Consequently, more than 26 billion animals each year are forced to live in miserable, overcrowded warehouses, where there is absolutely nothing natural about their existence and where they are subjected to barbaric, painful, industrial procedures.
This is a far cry from what God meant when he told us to exercise "dominion."
      (Pastor Greg Boyd.)

Great! (And my most sincere thanks---not to mention the implicit thanks you'll receive from posterity!)

I'm no computer wizard myself, but:

Just go to the homepage (click on the house symbol at top right), then look at the menu on the right margin and click on "alumni ballot." Then, scroll down till you find LS2. Thanks!

Re: Vote for LostSheep for January Alumnus!

I want to thank you Pereynol for your tireless efforts in getting me elected! Your efforts seem to be paying off.

Thanks so much, even though I feel the other candidates are much more worthy of winning.
"Christianity," says Bishop Wilson, "inscribes on the portal of her dominion 'Whosoever shall not receive the kingdom of God as a little child, shall in nowise enter therein.' Christianity does not profess to convince the perverse and headstrong, to bring irresistible evidence to the daring and profane, to vanquish the proud scorner, and afford evidences from which the careless and perverse cannot possibly escape. This might go to destroy man's responsibility. All that Christianity professes, is to propose such evidences as may satisfy the meek, the tractable, the candid, the serious inquirer." http://www.woundedheart.org/sgtestimony.htm
