  • Our "Part Time Jobs" President

Many of us have been saying this....

The first to state his case seems right until another comes and cross-examines him.

As for this part of the OP....
"In an effort to increase the number of employees eligible for time-and-a-half overtime pay, DOL raised the minimum salary threshold, the amount below which workers must be paid overtime, to more than double the current level from $23,660 to $47,476. According to the National Federation of Independent Business, the changes will force many small businesses to move salaried employees to hourly positions and make it harder for small businesses to promote workers to management level by creating additional costs and record-keeping headaches."

My wife's employer decided to circumvent this by raising the salary of anybody who was slightly under the 47.4k pay to just over that, so they can still work a whole bunch of hours and not get overtime.

The IDIOCY of these bureaucrats it that they're too stupid to realize that nearly any action they take can be thwarted in such a way as to result in a worse (or no) change from what they intended.

Like, when my company was just under 50 employees, we held off hiring the 50th employee for as long as we could, because that employee would come with all kinds of recording / reporting / regulation..... that 50th employee was WAY more expensive than the first 49.

I would predict that this is something you are going to see in a lot of places. Anyone who is not hourly already will move to salary right at the 47k mark to cut overtime and anyone who is salaried from 43-46 k will get a raise to cut overtime pay as a cost share measure. In addition there will be even more hiring of the meager 23-29 hours a work week. I do know that Obama does not understand competitive economics.

I almost think its a too stupid. They kind of have this idea that it looks really good on paper and then the math falls by the wayside. For example the ACA only benefits a certain number of people, but it gives them a really great benefit, It leaves out an entire class of people, nearly forgetting there existence, I'm not sure how much of that is on purpose, but I do know that while lots of changes were necessary to the previous infrastructure, not enough was considered with a brand new infrastructure. Or maybe this was the intended outcome. who knows at this point...

Government works like trying to get out of a gerbil ball by pushing on one side. They discount the other sides moving along with it.

          .
          exactly CP.

never underestimate the greed and unwillingness of American entrepreneurs to share profits with their laborers.

This isn't Denmark where for the sacrifice of paying 8 dimes more for a Bigmac, the workers get $20.00 an hour
without socialism, but with strong unions (American Capitalists have thwarted strong unions by outsourcing)

no accounting for the greed of America's Capitalist winners, and their ratio income compared to laborers (look McDonalds CEO gets 644 times the average worker and still resists minimum wage raise of a few dollars)

What you fail to realize is that greed is not a capitalist or socialist or anythingelseist characteristic. But a bunch of people voting for somebody because they're getting "free stuff" is cold hard greed.

                ah ok

when a bunch of people what more share of a country's resources, its greed.

But when a a few capitalists , a teeny percent of the population want ownership of most of the country's resources for themselves, its not.

ok, now I see where you're coming from.

There are, absolutely, greedy people in powerful positions. As I said, greed is not limited to capitalism or socialism or anythingism.....

ok, now I see where you're coming from.
Yeah, I was right.... you just needed to say some really stupid stuff. :thumb

Personally, I'm coming from a place where I don't mind actually working for what I have, and VOLUNTARILY helping others along the way - which I do FAR more effectively than any government program I know.

your OP is a criticism of Obama ("this president")

You are criticizing profiteering. Capitalism is profiteering. The ACA was written partly by Big Pharma which donated millions to Obama. Their reward for bribing Obama was $35 BILLION in profits so far. The reward for the architect of Obamacare , Liz Fowler, now is rewarded by Johnson & Johnson for a "senior-level position leading 'global health policy'

Johnson & Johnson is a member of the Pharmaceutical Researchers and Manufacturers of America (PhRMA) lobby. Through its contributions to PhRMA, Johnson & Johnson directly supported the passage of ObamaCare.

"Johnson & Johnson shareholders and consumers deserve to know just how much company money Weldon used to help pass President Obama's health care takeover. PhRMA authorized its lobby to spend $150 million to advertise and support ObamaCare

what do they care if their fellow PROFITEERS in business cut jobs to part time, its just a part of profiteering.

What does the profiteer Obama care (what does he care) , profits are profits, and if it takes putting on the Democrat label (which used to stand for labor) so be it.

And his profiteering masquerading as Democrat will probably continue under Hillary the profiteeress, who is owned by the Capital of Profiteering, Wall Street

I don't know why you are always criticizing your fellow profiteers, Hillary and Barrack. They cannot all claim to be Republicans, otherwise it would look like American voters don't have a choice in the labor vs management contest.

                              This is your second warning.
