Re: Shrike Team #6: Island of Conflict
Well, some have come into Hearthstone and have stayed for about 40,000 revs. Remember, Eidolon had opened one of the gates and a handful of them were able to pass into Hearthstone (http://www.tektoonics.com/hearthhistory.html). This was shortly before he gained immortality. So a few have been in Hearthstone for a very long time and thus the question is answered of how they were able to create the selalighli.Originally posted by Leonhard
This theory seems most probable, but raises the question of how the K'rek'skran could make the plants if they were in th void. Apparently according to S'nay the legends of them stretched back thousands of revs.
That's my guess, but I'm just wondering what exactly he'll do in that state. But your theory of divine revelation is interesting.Or he's just gotten kranky and is about to go Super-Prycene"I wish the ring had never come to me. I wish none of this had happened."

Good show Leo. I won't comment other than to say that:
1) You'll be able to see whether you were right on this by the end of ST #6. The truth about the selalighi is going to be a reeeal shocker.
2) Precog did NOT eat of the selalighi. Possession of a sort can occur even without that, if the subject is willing or off guard. How she got possessed will be revealed much later in the storyline, say about ST #9 or 10.

And do not wonder that a man may become an imitator of God. He can, if he is willing. For it is not by ruling over his neighbours, or by seeking to hold the supremacy over those that are weaker, or by being rich, and showing violence towards those that are inferior, that happiness is found; nor can any one by these things become an imitator of God. But these things do not at all constitute His majesty. On the contrary he who takes upon himself the burden of his neighbour; he who, in whatsoever respect he may be superior, is ready to benefit another who is deficient; he who, whatsoever things he has received from God, by distributing these to the needy, becomes a god to those who receive [his benefits]: he is an imitator of God.

Two more pages. Where's Brom's power come from? Find out!
Next time: Where's the island -- and why won't the power of the seraphs work on it?
Plus a couple of new mysteries to ponder that won't be answered for a while. You didn't think it'd be THAT easy, did you?

Re: Shrike Team #6: Island of Conflict

So "Hulk eyes" was an appropriate title eh?
But yeah, I had always thought that the power had come from within, but, as usual, it's more complicated than that. So the strength isn't necessarily limitless, but depends on the plant life around?
Oh and BTW:

What the - - -?! Brom's powers are some sort of hippie, psychedelic vego-stuff weirdo kind!?

I'd wanted a near limitless strength ratio within himself, and then he turns out to be nothing more than a conduit for weed! How could you do this to him, M'kai, why?!People aren't moral and rational because some sort of religion or atheism has automatically put that moral or rational thinking in them; people are moral and rational because they are the image of a loving and wise God.

Re: Shrike Team #6: Island of Conflict
The question is one I have considered: Would Brom have less strength in the desert than in a jungle? I decided no. There are no limits placed in terms of the distance from which he could draw energy. Hearthstone would have to be made totally free of plant life to weaken him.

Oh. So he draws it from every source of plant life on Hearthstone, okay. So yeah, it's practically limitless strength.Originally posted by jpholding

Re: Shrike Team #6: Island of Conflict
So Brom's eyes glow green when he's at maximum strength. Does that ever mean that he could become completely "decharged". Would his "decharged state be at his normal strength before he become the hybrid we all know and love?
Nice update, and not such a high cliff for the us to hang off of this time.

Haven't thought about it that way, but I'd say yes, since I do not see him crushing people with friendly hugs or handshakes.
Well, I had to make it easier this time because you're going to probably throw me off the cliff next round....Nice update, and not such a high cliff for the us to hang off of this time.

Do you still have any plans for what you'll do with the Tektoonics site after you're done with this installment of Heathstone. Still planning on putting it on more webcomics listings?
