A tidal wave of angry questions are piled on and venemous insults are spewed with impunity. The TWEB newbie is attacked from all sides with no time to catch his breath. In the midst of the melee, Holding chortles with laughter and dismiss the hapless guest as a mindless buffoon. This happens over and over again and it just looks absolutely silly. This kind of behavior is not dissimilar to the behavior of small, angry children on the playground ganging up on the class geek. It is somewhat understandable when seen in young children, but it is rather pathetic when it is manifested by grown adults.

It seems obvious that there is no genuine desire for a calm, reasoned, adult discusssion underlying these invititations. The point simply seems to be to use the invitee as a target for all sorts of repressed anger.

      Cheers,

      Jimbo

How do you not catch your breath? Turn off your computer and go watch TV. The only reason Silly never caught his breath is because he's been smoking so much cocaine-laced dubies.

Poor Harry hasn't caught up yet....meanwhile here's some Gold from commenters on his last entry:

Lady through the Looking Glass said...

While browsing some sites for Christian apologists, I found his, but didn't stay very long, because I was turned off by his heavily sarcastic tone. Even if what he was saying made perfect sense, it was lost on me, because he came across as arrogant. I believe that truth should be presented with an attitude of humility, highlighting the facts, and certainly not by trying to belittle those who do not share one's views.

JP, just so you know, until a couple of months ago, he was a hardcore fully-into-it-mate charismatic Christian.

Who obviously didn't understand his own religion.

And come on, there was more than that! What about his quip about there being pyramids and dinosaur bones, and somehow this negates any evidence that would be sufficient for Jesus' existence?

      Re: February 2008 Screwball Nominations

Nomination for The Marian Library/International Marian Research Institute, and specifically Christine M Miller, the write of the following article:
      http://campus.udayton.edu/mary/questions/yq/yq195.html

      TML

Did the Blessed Virgin Mary menstruate?
      .....
We have already seen that because the Garden of Eden was conceived of a sanctuary Eve could not have menstruated since that would have rendered her unclean.
      ......
But we do know dogmatically as Catholics that Mary would not have "bled" during her giving birth to Jesus. We know this from the dogma of Mary's Perpetual Virginity - before, after, and particularly during the birth of Jesus. It is an article of divine Catholic faith that Mary preserved her virginity—inviolate from any physical damage or destruction. This would mean, on a physical level that Mary's hymen remained intact. This can be a contentious issue for some, since we know that the hymen can be burst outside of sexual intercourse or giving birth and the girl would still be considered a virgin. But theologically, it is different for Mary because of her integral involvement with the Incarnation and Redemption worked by Jesus.

More in the article (including a quote from Pope Benedict on the issue).

Nomination for John Powell for this asinine comparison between the evidence for God and the evidence for Santa Claus:

Johnny: I think you're making Santa Claus up. Where does he live? Can I go see him at home?
Daddy: Oh no you can't, he lives too far away for you to visit. He lives . . . at the north pole, yea that's the ticket.

i doubt that your concerned with the atheist "reading" of the word.
Clearly you both have access to the same information and the same use of eyes and memories.

What concerns you is our interpretation and use of what we read. maybe God did give out a picture book, the pictures look like words.

Words hide meaning like a picture hides discriptions. We both see plainly, but interpret differently.
      Feel differently.

So when you say "get an education" you really mean "learn and believe my understanding."
