Glory Seed Devotionals, 2016: Year of the Blessing
The Games God plays…
Shalom!
I am not sure whether or not you’ve every felt as if God is a million miles away or not but I have and in fact He seems to be on the far side of the sun for a few days now. To tell you the truth at times like this I feel real uncomfortable, and that is the way I should feel because I’ve come to depend on Him 100%. About twenty years ago when it seemed as if God had deserted me I would have asked myself, “Gary, what did you do now?” However, as long as I was playing that “game” one million became two million, two million became three million, and you get the idea. Since then I’ve left that question where it belongs, twenty years ago. Today my question is, “What do I do when God seems a million miles away?”
Then one day while reading in Jeremiah I stumbled over what has become a rock upon which I have renovated my life, “If you look for me wholeheartedly, you will find me.” (Jeremiah 29:13, NLT) Those 10 words completely changed my life. Not in a real drastic way but have over the years slowly renovated me from a wishy-washy faith where God often gets offended and “takes His toys and goes home” to a rock solid faith where God “plays hide and go seek” in order to deepen and strengthen my faith and relationship in Him not in what He does for me.
There’s only one wrinkle in that now and the wrinkle is ME because there are times when playing the hide and go seek game is mine not God’s. And the truth is God doesn’t need to go looking for any of us He knows where we’re at 24/7. So all He does is wait’s for me (us) to come to our senses and go looking for Him. So what do I do when God seems a million miles away? I begin my prayer with, “Ready or not God here I come!” And you know God’s always ready and eager for us to find Him.
Believe in presence of the GOD and in the strength of his GRACE!
GRACE and PEACE,
Gary
