Like other recent tragedies, we already have more than enough information to identify the killer and his motivation. What else are you waiting for? This is an act of Islamic terrorism. It's as simple as that.

The tragedies I'm thinking of had no ties to terrorism...and were bathed in bad media info. I'm referring to Sandy Hook where frantic media were the first to misidenify to the shooter's dad the son that was dead; and to the ex-military ex-cop who went on a rampage and the news reported he might be headed to my town which is just full of cops and military. Maybe I'm irrational, but the media is long on scaring people and short on accuracy in the short run.

Now that it appears they got good information, I will agree this is terrorism. Eider, however, was saying he heard in the UK that it was an extremist out to kill gays. I was pointing out to him that some terrorists do not approve of the gay scene. So in that sense his info was likely to be accurate. So cool it.

Two things to consider.

The Orlando Sentinel is saying that the shooter, who has been named as 29-year-old Omar Mir Seddique Mateen (born to Afghan parents), was possibly wearing an explosive device. Orlando Police Chief John Mina has confirmed that he was carrying "some type of device on him."

ISIS announced three days ago that they were specifically targeting Florida.

I was not aware of that about ISIS.
