      shootings in israel

just as we all condemn the attacks in gaza of last week that killed dozens of palestinians, let us condemn the senseless act of terror that occurred today in Jerusalem.

Let us also condemn the Hamas spokesperson who called this cowardly act "heroic".

I hope you all will join me in a prayer for all those killed today.

While the palestinians are suffering greatly at the hands of israel, terrorism like this is never right.

That's great B, but you are missing a vital piece of information. The palistinian killers purposefully target INNOCENTS, while the Israeli army purposefully targets TERRORISTS. The problem muslims have is that they cannot differentiate between innocents and terrorists.

killed by terrorists or not, THEY ARE DEAD, have some respect.

dont use every chance you get to make some stupid argument and have some respect for those who died.

I didn't say "killed by terrorist", I said this:

Israel army - intentionally kills terrorists (innocents are collatoral damage)
      Palestinians - intentionally kills innocents

Do you understand this? Yes or no? It shows there is no moral equivalence where you are trying to find one.

Israel intentionally kill innocents too, and then justify it on the grounds that terrorists were using them as human shields, living among them, etc...

Yet Israel is the most militarised country in the world - with compulsory military service for most men and women, and compulsory reserve membership for most men, which means that most adult Israelis have had formal military training and were once part of the armed forces (and a large number still are). And, of course, these reservists live among civilians - using their own families as "human shields"...

Not that I condone the killings by either side (I think that the situation is well summarised by a Lt Colonel I knew, who served there as a UN observer, and said "The Israelis and Palestinians deserve each other.") Mostly it's the double standard I detest.

      where is your proof?

Yet Israel is the most militarised country in the world
how does 'being militarised' prove that they intenionally go out of their way to target innocent civilians just like the muslms do?

Narnian is absolutely right when she said:

Israel army - intentionally kills terrorists (innocents are collatoral damage)
      Palestinians - intentionally kills innocents

Do you understand this? Yes or no? It shows there is no moral equivalence where you are trying to find one.

Barnasha needs to answer the above question intelligently.

dont use every chance you get to make some stupid argument and have some respect for those who died.

Narnian's argument is not at all, 'stupid'! Respect is one thing, but pointing out the real truth of the issue is totally another, and needs to be done!

I use every chance to expose evil, just as the NT teaches us to:

Ephesians 5:11 Take no part in the unfruitful works of darkness, but instead expose them.

Extremely good point! And necessary too.

Almost every country in the world has some form of compulsory military service, it is quite common. If you lived in an area of the world where everyone around you was your enemy, wouldn't you want to be militarized? Israel would be wiped out like the Iranian President said if Israel didn't have one of the strongest militaries in the world.

You are full of crap and have no evidence to support this conclusion that the Israeli army intentionally attacks civilians. During the war with Hezbollah in Lebanon, the terrorists would barricade themselves around hospitals and appartment complexes. They shot their rockets into random Israeli towns hoping to kill as many as they could.

I would be careful being so sympathetic to the Palestinians cause because they would have no problem killing innocent men, women, and children. And they do this because, according to them, Allah commands it.
All that is necessary for the triumph of evil is for good men to do nothing.

      Re: shootings in israel

I join you, as an evangelical Christian, in condemning both actions and in praying for the families of the victims. I also pray with you for peace and reconciliation. As naive as that may seem to some I believe my God calls me to it.

I also call to task the poor Christian theology that equates Israelis with Israelites and mistakingly assumes that the modern nation state of Israel has anything to do with Biblical "prophecy" or the Israel of the Bible. That some Christians justify bloodshed and injustice through such self serving interpretation of scripture is shameful to us all.

My most recent faith struggle is not one of intellect. I don't really do that anymore. Sooner or later you just figure out there are some guys who don't believe in God and they can prove He doesn't exist, and some other guys who can prove He does exist, and the argument stopped being about God a long time ago and now it's about who is smarter, and honestly, I don't care. ~ Don Miller Blue Like Jazz

I really dont want to address Dan's comments above but a quick look at the numbers shows how many innocent women and children die on the palestinian side versus the israeli side will show that the innocent palestinians die in numbers almost 10x that of the israelis...

Really? Perhaps you should check this out:

Hamas Admits to Using Women, Children As Human Shields

      From Article Linked to Above

A Hamas parliamentarian has openly admitted to developing a "death-seeking" culture that uses women, children and the elderly as human shields against Israeli military attacks.

"[The enemies of Allah] do not know that the Palestinian people have developed [methods] of death and death-seeking," Hamas parliamentarian, Fathi Hammad said in a speech televised on Hamas' Al-Aksa television station two weeks ago. (A transcript was made available by the Middle East Media Research Institute on Thursday.)

"For the Palestinian people, death has become an industry, at which women excel, and so do all the people living on this land. The elderly excel at this, and so do the mujahideen and the children," Hammad said.

"This is why they have formed human shields of the women, the children, the elderly, and the mujahideen, in order to challenge the Zionist [Israel] bombing machine. It is as if they were saying to the Zionist enemy: 'We desire death like you desire life,'" he said.

Israel doesn't have to "justify it on the grounds that terrorists were using them as human shields, living among them, etc..." The terrorists openly admit - make that BRAG - that they
use innocent civilians as human shields.

It's almost like you're blaming Israel for being effective at depending itself. But I wholeheartedly agree with your last statement about praying for peace in the Middle East
