      Hey, its all good.
Gary, I keep looking at the data and seeing that what we are told simply doesn't match the data. If I take two closely spaced towns, I should expect that the temperatures should be the same. This should be especially the case on the great plains where things are largely flat. When I subtract the daily average temperatures, I find a huge disparity in the measured temperature--often more than 10 deg F. If I treat these two measurements as quasi-repeats, as two attempts to measure the same temperature, climatologically speaking, then the standard deviation of the temperature measurements should represent the measurement error i.e. how closely can we repeat the measurement. When I do that for each of the 365 days I find some incredible standard deviations. When looking at the pictures below realise that the purported global warming is only 1.1 F over a century. Note that the measurement error is 3-6 times that.

I don't think we are going to see the big catastrophe because we don't know what the temperature is doing. The record is too noisy

The USN standard for the danger level of CO2 in the air: 8,000 ppm. We've got a long way to go yet, maybe 10,000 years?

Moreover, we can grow more food with less water.

Scientist tells Congress that CO2 does not cause global warming.

      Let's see, the sunspots--few
Antarctic ice didn't melt much for the past 4 years--with 2009 being the smallest melt every.

I have more info on my blog, http://themigrantmind.blogspot.com/2...t-melting.html

But here is a picture showing that the surface of Antarctica is growing higher--more snow and ice, even after corrections have been made.

      More pictures on my blog.

By the way, Austria is expecting early snows at low altitudes tonight.

Proof positive of global warming. It is mid October and here in Alaska it is 65 degrees.

My guess is that you are in Anchorage. It is warm, much of the rest of the state isn't.

Edited to add: The current high pressure north of Anchorage is drawing warm air from the south. Are you saying that due to a current high pressure system in northern Alaska, that that is proof of global warming?

The same high in Alaska is making cold air go south towards Nebraska.

I was jesting. I am not, nor have ever been a global warming advocate. I also exaggerated. It was around 55 outside today - yes Anchorage area - but 65 on my south facing porch.

      Re: Global Warming

I didn't take scientific measurements or anything but the weather in Toronto has been ridiculously cold this year. I didn't get to enjoy autumn at all. It went from the coolest summer in memory (I've been here for about 10 years) to below 10 degrees celsius.
"Years ago, I mean decades ago, I read a quote about politicians performing quid pro quo favors for campaign cash, and whether or not we could prove it. The guy who was quoted opined that it was difficult to determine. He noted that in many cases, the payoff might not take the form of votes on legislative action -- those might be detectable, and so are avoided -- but could take subtler forms, like the question that is never asked at a hearing.

The media's doing a terrific job of not asking questions it doesn't want to know the answer to. It doesn't ask these questions in bulk, and the great volume of questions it doesn't ask makes it cheap to not ask questions.

And it passes these savings on to you, the customer." Ace

i used to be a roofer... 6 years ago we could not work between 11:30 and 1:30 because it was too effing hot... 3 years ago we could work the whole day through with little more than soaked towels/hats wraped around our heads. this year i dont think i would have had a problem at all.
All that is gold does not glitter,
      not all those who wander are lost;
the old that is strong does not wither,

just because you can't see him, doesn't mean he isn't there!
even steel must be put to the flame, else it will remain weak and easily removed.
i find it amazing that a person who requests another to demonstrate that they are not terrorists by some small action like making the claim they are not terrorists, becomes terrorized himself, and not by the terrorists or even the proposed terrorists; but by those who seek tolerance and understanding. i believe that fits the definition of ironic doesn't it?

Quite complaining. It is simply global warming.

Nah, about the time that the political left decides to try to grab power via the coming ice age (caused of course by man's evil environmental record) the weather will start warming again.

You have just explained why I never wanted to be a roofer. My hat is off to you and you have my respect for putting up with such heat.

Edited to add, earlier in this thread I was criticized for saying that the sun had much of an impact on the earth's temperature. We are now about 4 years past time when the sun should have started producing spots for Cycle 24. This year so far 78% of the days have no sunspots. the last time this happened, in the 1810s, the temperature of the world dropped about a degree and a half, yet the IPCC never looks at real history preferring to believe their stupid climate models which didn't predict the present cooling. When one prefers to look at the sacred document ( a climate model) rather than looking at actual data (what is going on in the real world), you can be sure that it is a religion, not science.

      Re: Global Warming

For those who want the imprimature of the weather service consider this

For the 2009 summer, the average temperature of 71.7 degrees F was 0.4 degree F below the 20th Century average. The 2008 average summer temperature was 72.7 degrees F.
The U.S. as a whole was below normal for the summer period (June-August). A recurring upper level trough held the June-August temperatures down in the central states, where Michigan experienced its fifth coolest summer, Wisconsin, Minnesota, and South Dakota their seventh coolest each, Nebraska its eighth, and Iowa its ninth coolest such period. In direct contrast, the temperatures in Florida averaged out to be fourth warmest, while Washington and Texas experienced their eighth and ninth warmest such periods, respectively.
