Re: Insidious "revivals"
My hairdresser owns the salon and is an elder in our church...everyone goes to him. We were talking about Lakeland the other day while I was getting terrific new highlights done (I'm even more gorgeous than before, if you can stand to think about that). He said he was part of the Brownsville revival in Pensacola. He said he went nine times and was forever changed by the experience. He described "soaking in the presence of God," and how the Holy Spirit's heaviness in the room was palpable. He also said that was not a healing revival...rather one centered on repentance. I guess I don't really understand exactly what "revival" is supposed to mean. Is it just a whole bunch of people feeling the strong presence (or manifestation) of God at the same time? Does the bible speak of revival in any manner similar to this? Heck, I've been to some wonderful solomn assemblies where I felt a strong presence of God and felt changed during 2 hours of corporate prayer...but I didn't feel the need to call "revival!"

Re: Insidious "revivals"
IMO "revival" is one of those Cristianese jargon words that means "Let's have a big church party and see if we can get people excited about God again"

Re: Insidious "revivals"
I see a true revival as being the sort of thing Ezra, Josiah, etc. effected. "If My people who are called by My name...". it's a restoration, a turning back, a bearing again of fruit. Hence the term, revival.
These are no revivals that bring false doctrine with them, that's for sure.

Re: Insidious "revivals"
Hi,
I think what I find odd are Todd Bentley's tattoos...he didn't have them in his days in ministry prior to 2005 when he went through a "dark night of the soul" and emerged with tatoos and piercings....a big no-no according to Leviticus 19:28.

Re: Insidious "revivals"
Well, I would debate whether that passage actually condemns tats and piercings.
My issue with Bentley is mainly his association with the Manifest Sons of God bull and the people who promote it claiming to be prophets (who are actually false prophets).

Re: Insidious "revivals"
If there is anything I’ve learned from both conservatives and liberals, it’s that we can have all the “right” answers and still be mean. And when you’re mean, it’s hard for people to listen to, much less desire, your truth.

Re: Insidious "revivals"
Kelp,
Granted....but his teachings are strange as well. He claims that he visited Paul in heaven and Paul allegedly told him that Abraham co-wrote the Book of Hebrews with Paul.
Never heard that one before....

Flipper, what is your source for these claims, please? I'm interested in reading for myself.
